How to enter and track a CD (certificate of deposit) 2025

When I created a new file for 2025 quicken isn’t recognizing the CD, my bank has all my accounts listed.
Last year’s file when I did a one-step update it found the CD, it downloaded it, asked what it was I ticked investments and there it was. Never had to do nothing after that one step did it for me.
So what happen the bank said it not on their part its quicken

OF COURSE the bank is blaming Q. The banks NEVER admit responsibility … even when we've PROVEN that they screwed up.
BUT, before responsibility for this issue is determined, you need to tell us more.
How did you acquire the CD? Directly from the bank, or via your brokerage (i.e., a negotiable CD)? In either case, which Financial Institution?
What type of account did you record the CD in? It's own "other asset"? An investment account? What?
And, why did you create a new file? Doing such really won't improve Q's performance (there's other things that will do that) and WILL prevent you from running historical comparison reports (e.g. "what did I spend on X this year vs last year) as it's almost impossible to "put Humpty together again").
Since it's still so early in 2025, I'd suggest that you go back to your prior file and keep using it. My file has data back to 1983.

why did you create a new file? A fresh 2025 File, now citi works without using the costco way
ok no historical comparison reports, but its keepin track of my investments from last year
Yea "I'd suggest that you go back to your prior file and keep using it" but I'm not happy about it because I have the past covered

How is the CD shown on the bank's website? In it's own account, or an investment account? Q should mirror what the bank does.

At the bank, it's NOT in an investment account … which is why it won't download into an investment account.
And it's the bank, not Q, that determines which accounts are eligible for download.
SO, regardless of monthly vs quarterly interest, it looks to me like you'll just have to manage this CD manually. But since there are only 4-12 transactions annually, I wouldn't think that is difficult.

“At the bank, it's NOT in an investment account … which is why it won't download into an investment account”.
Thats where Q put it, I didn’t have any choice in the matter, the interest is posted monthly not manually by me but by the bank.

It's not difficult to make manual entries but it is time consuming. 20 CD'S X 12 (240 manual entries) or 20 X 4 (80 manual entries) ..
I've been trying to get Quicken to fix this. Here is a pdf of the thread and never heard anything…
FROM THE PDF…. @
August 2024 edited August 2024 @UKR does your FI post interest on the CD monthly or Quarterly???? My CD's never download interest posted quarterly but only downloaded the Opening Balance. I talked with FI many times and Quicken support many times and each blame the other. Yesterday I talked again to FI and Quicken support and same blame game so I asked Q
support to talk to a supervisor. The supervisor had me send a log file and she passed it up immediately and would get me an answer. She got information from those who review log files and she said that a CD account, or any account, that has no transactions for 90 days is considered a "dormant account" and won't download. She also said the opening balance downloaded is not considered a transaction. She told me to come here and request this get fixed with a Q update. She said there were those who run this community (Mods and Admin folks) that can submit this. Windows 11 (2 separate computers)..... Quicken Premier.. HAVE USED QUICKEN CONTINUOUSLY SINCE 1985.QUICKEN TICKET: CTP-10746
At the bank what type account are CD's? My CD's come into Quicken as Checking. I get no downloaded transactions except the initial account balance. Quicken OSU's check each CD each time. Bank says it is Quicken issue.

Its Monday, January 6, 2025 and it gets better. Today I’m minus 1K in the hole on Q, my bank says I’m + positive, then looking at the medical payment on the same account there are double entries on the same date and amount and not one medical payment is in the tax category for medical payments, reconcile can’t fix the balance and doesn’t see any deposits.
I had it setup for the import to turbo tax (basic $40- Deluxe $70) that was going just fine, now that’s in the toilet.
I had suspicious credit card charge called the bank & credited, bank gives me a new number downloaded the new # quicken added it and 794 transactions were downloaded on to that new download CC# account, not one category was listed that were doctors and prescriptions payments that were made. So, I started a new file for 2025 my investments that were $ off are now correct $'s, but my CD wasn’t recognized from my bank even though it’s in their vault on my accounts bank page, can’t wait to see what’s next --- I’m not having fun or the time to fix either.
A problem depending how far the download goes back for the payments to who and what account has to be reconfigured/categorized all over again, I ain't got time for that.
