Preference window to big, cannot click the bottom buttons

I am no computer guy. I know just enough to get in trouble, which I am now.

When I open quicken it goes to full screen, that's fine. When I click on preferences the window is too big to see the top or bottom so I cannot "x" it out or click on the buttons (I assume) that are on the bottom (which you can just barely see in the screenshot)

I cannot seem to resize the window by hoovering the edges… I do not know what to do. Can anyone help?

That dialog isn't resizable (Quicken Inc should make it resizable, but this what it is). On the other hand, the dialog is 615 pixels high which should fit on your screen if you are meeting the min resolution/Windows scaling requirements.

The requirements are 1024x768 (second number is the height) at 100% Windows scaling or 1280x1024 with Large Fonts and Windows at 100% scaling.

Note that Large Fonts is about 120% scaling but only done in Quicken, whereas "Windows scaling" applies to the whole monitor.

If you have the Windows scaling at 125% then you have to multiple the numbers by 1.25 to see what the min resolution is needed. For 1024x768 that becomes 1280x960.

Thank you for responding. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to apply any of those resolutions and solve my problem. Those lower resolutions seem to make the problem worse.

Here this really sucks for me because I cannot seem to save my preferances…. Is there a way I can move the dialog box to show the buttons at the bottom?

I can move the dialog box with "Alt, Space, M" but after moving it, any action, click, enter, any action and the dialog box moves back to where I cannot push the OK button…. This is frustrating….

You should be abl to use Tab to move the focus around the buttons in the preferences window. Once on the OK button, press the Enter key.

In the pic you showed of your display settings, what is shown under Scale?

Do you have View / Use large Fonts enabled?
If so, temporarily turn it off so that the windows fit on your screen. Turn it back on when done making and saving changes.

The same applies to Windows Control Panel / Display options settings. Change the settings to 100%, make and save your changes, then change back to your previous (> 100%) value.

If changing back to smaller fonts makes the display too hard to read, try using the Windows Magnifier.
Press the Windows logo key and the = key to open Magnifier. Customize Magnifier to increment Zoom in 25% intervals.
When done exit Magnifier to turn it off.

it seems that my description wasn’t clear, you would raise the resolution not decrease the resolution or decrease the window scaling to fix such a problem.

What is happening here is quicken expects to be able to use a certain amount of pixels 615 in this case for the height. Clearly if somebody had a resolution of say 800 x 600 then not even including the windows taskbar you would be 15 short of showing the whole dialogue. And say you use 200% Windows scaling then that means that Windows scales up each pixel two times. So now if you a resolution of 1000 in the height, for every pixel the program puts out Windows will use two pixels so you’re effective resolution is only 500 in the height.
