Problem with renaming credit card account

I have a credit card that changed banks. I renamed the account in Quicken Deluxe (R60.20, build 27.1.60.20 for Windows Enterprise). When I reconcile the statement and pay with a hand-written check, the old account name shows up for the transaction, and I have to go back and change the account name in both the bank account transaction list and the credit card account transaction list. This has been going on for a couple of years, and I have tried to edit the account name again, but the old name continues to show up. How can I get this to work correctly?
