If you RIGHT click on the title "All Transactions", there are checkboxes at the bottom of the dialog to select between Current vs Ending balance, which is the only way that I know of to make the switch.

Are you saying that the switch is happening spontaneously? What are the specifics of when it happens?

And, what BUILD of Q are you running? Do HELP, About Quicken for this info. Have you tried Validating your data file?

Q version R60.20 Build 27.1.60.20 aka the latest

Each account on the account bar has a switch to pick between current balance and ending balance. there is also a global switch between these choices in the settings adjacent to near "Accounts". I had assumed changing the setting on a particular account would be "sticky" but perhaps it switches back to the global setting after some action which I have not yet identified.

I have also been using Q since 1990… could not function without it.

It is confusing, but except for the Edit/Delete account selection at the top, the menu when you right click on an account in the Account Bar applies to the whole bar.

Thanks for the clarification. That is consistent with what I see, but a little disappointing

I think the account balances in the Account Bar should be all current or all ending balances, or else the total at the bottom would not be meaningful.,
