Lastly, could you share any troubleshooting steps you’ve already attempted?

We look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you!

Data file stored in One Drive
Already 1) made sure that the side bar shows the current balance though the current is the same as the ending and changing it to ending balance does nothing. 2) I checked all deposits to make sure thate wasnt one that hadnt been reconciled…all seems in order.

    1) since the amount off is EXACTLY 1500, i looked at both deposits and payments for transactions with that amount. I have NO deposits for 1500. BUt i have several payments for 1500. I am including the a screen shot of the latest ones within the last two years where i have seen the discrepancy.

My question is if the one highlighted where i transferred funds to another internal cash account may be where the problem is? i withdrew from the ATM checking account the 1500 and deposited the cash electronically in the cash box. doesnt seem like thats the problem but that is the only 1500 transaction that seems like it might be a problem.

I have seen in the discussions that others have the same problem. help me ObiWan…you're my only hope

(Jumping in where I rarely tread)

What I note about your highlighted transaction is the lack of a Downloaded Payee. You might add the Downloaded Posting Date column to see if that field is also blank for that transaction. Neither omission should be a problem, but maybe. As for the transfer account, it does not seem particularly different than the other transfer accounts similarly used. I assume that petty cash box account looks okay with respect to this issue.

Make a backup, then delete and re-enter the transaction in question. Couldn’t hurt.

Also the transactions are not in order. They should be in date order with the newest date at the bottom. Try clicking the Date column heading to sort by date.

I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

here they are in order…by date. this issue is still the same…the side bar total is different than the register total

Just curious if changing the account bar setting for Current/Ending balance makes a difference?

Also, have you tried running Validate and Repair?

I've had the same problem in a cash account for at least a year. When I first noticed it, I tried the Validate and repair, but it did nothing. My solution to to wait until I eventually close that account.

Just firing a couple of shots into the dark here, listening for an "Ouch" …

    • The account's Opening Balance transaction is incorrect as a result of having been modified improperly during account activation/reactivation for downloading
    • There's a future dated transaction not shown
    • There's a long past due and forgotten Scheduled Reminder that's still waiting to be executed (turned into a real register transaction) which impacts the balance
    • There's a Savings Goal transaction impacting your balance
    • The account's currency is in some currency other than USDollar and the exchange rate is not exactly 1.00
    • The Home Currency is set to a currency other than USDollar and the exchange rate is not exactly 1.00
The Account Sidebar uses the Home Currency setting to show converted amount totals and subtotals

Not all of the above may apply to you. Just listing possible causes …

UKR….you did it! it was the savings goal transaction. …though i didnt have an active savings goal. I must have set one up a few years ago. So I set up a test goal. then clicked the dont show in register button. then deleted the goal and the side bar is now showing the same balance as the account register. THANK YOU
