Security keeps disappearing from Portfolio view.

I am having a problem with one of the securities in my portfolio view. Every time I quit Quicken and restart I have to Customize the Portfolio view and check the security to make sure it will show up. A little background. I bought the security, SNPS, in 1999 and sold it in 2000. I then bought it again in 2024. Ever since I bought it again I have been having this problem. The transactions are in my register.

I am running Quicken R60.20, build 27.1.60.20 on a Windows 10 machine. If you need any more information, please let me know

Is this Portfolio view accessed from the Investing tab, or is it one of the Home tab dashboard views?

If you go to the account where you hold this security and click on Holdings, is the security always there?

If the issue is with an Investing > Portfolio view, when you click on Customize and then pick the Securities tab, is the problem that this security or the account where you hold it is sometimes un-checked? Remember that each named portfolio view has its own set of security and account selections.

If I am not describing the problem correctly, please explain.

Have you checked in Tools / Security List if the security is marked as "Hidden", i.e., has a checkmark in the box in the Hide column?
If so, click to remove the Hide checkmark.

When bringing up the Security List view be sure to have checkmarked "Show hidden securities" at the bottom of the view window.

Jim, the security is always there in the account where I purchased it. In a particular Portfolio view, the security keeps disappearing everytime I close Quicken and then restart it.

UKR, the security is not Hidden, that is one of the first things I checked and continue to check.

For some reason, I think it has something to do with the fact that I purchased and then sold the security about 24 years ago. I have been using Quicken since 1998.

Have you tried running a File Validation with options

    • If the data file contains investment accounts also select "Rebuild investing lots".
    • If you suspect that a damaged Quotes Price History causes your problems, also select "Correct investing price history" functions "Delete" or "Repair and Rebuild".

I have securities I have sold and later bought again. I have not seen that issue arise, though I could have missed it. That is not to say your hypothesis is wrong, only that there may be something else involved.
