Business Asset - subcategories

Quicken Windows Subscription Member

I am using Quicken Personal/Business on Windows 11. I just got this upgrade and am trying to set up a farm partnership. I would like to enter each piece of land we own in a separate category and have the total sum up to one asset account - Land. How can I set up asset subcategories. You can set up income and expense subcategories but I don't know how to do this with assets.

In Q, there's no such thing as "sub-accounts", which is what you're asking for. The land is an asset, not an Income or Expense, which is what categories are used for.

And, categories can't be subordinate to Assets or Liabilities. In accounting there are: Assets, Liabilities, Income and Expenses … and "never the twain shall meet".

You probably need to set up each piece of land as a separate asset, and then use a report, filtered to include only those assets, to get what you want.
