Classic Premier 8.0.1 (Build 800.56243.100 sooooo SLOW!

For the past few weeks now, every single thing I do gets the spinning beach ball for a few seconds. Even simply changing a date on a transaction. Yes, my data file is large, 607mb, but it used to work fine and I need it to still work fine. I have the latest build, running on Sequoia 15.2. Haven't had any other issues. Yes, I've restarted. What else can I do?

This will sound stupid, but check to make sure you don't have any open windows (accounts or especially reports) which are open but hidden behind the main Quicken window. What you describe sounds like a classic case of a report being open in the background which updates after every entry or edit. Pull down the Window menu, and see if there is anything in the menu below "Sync Errors"; if so, those are your open windows, and if you close them, your Quicken will be back to normal.

Jacobs, you are absolutely correct. I had a background window open, which of course secretly reopened with each reboot. After using quicken (heavily) since Y2K killed my previous program, 24 years!—I should have thought of that. Thanks for stating the obvious!

I had a background window open... Thanks for stating the obvious!
I'm glad it was nothing more serious than that, and that you're now back to operating at full speed. 😀
I will say that one of my small gripes with Quicken Mac is that this situation is NOT obvious to users. I'm well aware of it, and yet I've still been surprised at times to discover I have one or more windows open in the background from days or weeks prior. So I have created a suggestion that the developers create so way of making it more apparent to users that they have open windows, either in a dialog box upon re-launch or some indicator on the main screen. Please take a moment to add your vote for this feature request (and add a comment in that thread that you were a victim of thinking something had gone wrong with Quicken because of not thinking to check for hidden windows):
