Please add wildcards to memorized payees.

Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭

Some transactions have dates or random numbers appended to the Payee making it impossible to memorize the category for the payee. Please add the ability to use wildcards characters so that Quicken can appropriately categorize these.

In addition, this would be a good way to let Quicken know which fields matter when setting the category. For example, you could easily say that payee name must start with specific words but can end differently, amount could be anything, but account must be a specific account.

Note: I know there is a workaround to rename the payee but this seems like a bit of a kludge and having wildcards for memorized payees seems like a pretty basic feature which Quicken should have.

The use of Renaming Rules will solve this problem for you.
You just need to make sure that the Rule is defined as follows, with "If payee contains":

Now whatever additional text is in both the Downloaded Payee Name and the Downloaded Memo won't matter. You'll get a new transaction with "Burger King" as the Payee Name.
And if you have a properly defined and categorized Memorized Payee List entry "Burger King" you're good to go.
