Number of errors

Hello,
I've been a long time user of Quicken (20+ years). But I there was a long gap when I did not use it. I started using Quicken again about a year ago and have had numerous errors and issues since I've started using it again.
The first issue which is relatively recent is that Quicken crashes every time I start it, unless I right click on the Quicken icon and choose run as administrator. I then get a warning message something to the effect of "Quicken is not intended to run as administrator…". This started happening after an automatic Quicken update around 2 months ago.
The second issue that I have is that my checking account register balance column regularly is incorrect. It seems to occur after I add or modify a transaction in the checking register. It will correct itself sometimes if I click on a different account and then back to my checking register. However sometimes I have to close Quicken and restart it for it to correct itself. This has been happening ever since I restarted using Quicken about a year ago.
The third reoccurring issue is that my last transaction occupies the new transaction line. Usually this happens in my checking register, but I think it has happened in other accounts too. If I click on the plus icon to enter a new transaction, it moves to the bottom line, but that line is already filled in with whatever the latest transaction is. Again, sometimes by going to another account and back it will open up a blank transaction line at the bottom. But sometimes I have to close Quicken and restart it to get a blank transaction line at the bottom of the register.
Note when I restarted using Quicken about a year ago, I reused my old Quicken data file. I don't remember the process I used to do so. I think I had to convert it somehow. I wonder if my old data file is not completely compatible and causing some of these issues?
Looking for help on how to solve these issues.

If you haven't done so already, please do the following actions:
- Even if you are on the latest software level already, download and install the latest Manual Patch file from https://www.quicken.com/support/update-and-patch-20182019-release-quicken-windows-subscription-product to ensure your Quicken software is up to date and correctly installed.
- Reboot Windows.
- Start Quicken. Do not run One Step Update.
- Run BOTH Validate and Supervalidate to attempt to repair your Quicken data file.
- If nothing helps, try to restore your Quicken data file from an Automatic or Manual backup taken just prior to the problems first occurring.
Validate and Supervalidate instructions
First save a backup file prior to performing these steps
Validate:
• Click File
• Select Validate and Repair File...
• Select Validate File
• If the data file contains investment accounts also select "Rebuild investing lots".
• If you suspect that a damaged Quotes Price History causes your problems, also select "Correct investing price history" functions "Delete" or "Repair and Rebuild".
• Click OK
• Review the Data Log. Anything interesting in there, worthwhile posting here?
• Close Quicken, leave it closed for about 30 secs
• Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.Super Validate:
• Click File
• Press and hold both CTRL and Shift keys while you click Validate and Repair File...
• Select Supervalidate File
• Click OK
• Review the Data Log. Anything interesting in there, worthwhile posting here?

@thammondwis your third issue sounds like the one discussed here:
Quicken user since Q1999. Currently using QW2017.

Followed all the instructions, except step 5 (I honestly don't recall when this issue started and have so much data entered since then…so restoring from a very old restore would be a real last resort step). The data log for the validate has quite a few issues detailed. I'll copy it below. The Super Validate didn't report any issues.
I'm still only able to run the program as administrator.
Not sure yet about any of the other issues. I'll try using for a few days and repost results.
Here is the validate log text (I changed anything that was possibly sensitive/private info with XXX's). Not sure if anything below would be considered "interesting".

I ran into a similar issue with TurboTax in that it crashes unless I run it as administrator. That go my thinking as both are Intuit products that there is probably something in my permissions that is conflicting with the way Intuit programs run.
My windows installation is on my C: drive but all my programs are installed on a separate physical drive, E: (due to size of my c: drive). I wonder if that is the cause of my crashing problems (unless running as administrator). If that may be the cause, is there a potential work around?

Intuit sold Quicken many years ago, the new company is called Quicken Inc.
There have been reports (not lately, but in the past) that Quicken has problems when not installed on the Windows drive.
The report from Validate and Repair does look very good, hopefully most of them got repaired.
If both Quicken and TurboTax require you to run as administrator there must be some critical files/registry settings that they can't get access to with your account. One thing you might try is creating another administrator account and see if you can run from there.
I will note that "Run as Administrator" and running in an administrator account aren't the same.
Microsoft could never fix the problem that they started out where basically everyone was administrator and then the security problems with that came out. So, over time they have restricted what can be done in an administrator account and with the only really difference between it and a user account is how the ask permission to raise the level of permissions. In an administrator account you just get a prompt (if you haven't turned it off), in a user account you have to log into an administrator account. When you run a program with "Run as Administrator" you are basically telling Windows to elevate the permissions (like what you might get for an install program) from the start. That for instance might allow the program to write to folders that it normally shouldn't be able to do.
