Ghost Transactions

I've used Quicken for decades but sadly, have found that it is no longer reliable. Twice in the last few months ghost transactions have appeared from nowhere that throw off my balance and I can't reconcile Quicken to my bank statements. Deleting them corrects the balance [Removed - Profanity]? Sigh.

Hello @RYWalser,
I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with unexpected transactions affecting your balance and reconciliation.
To help us investigate, can you recall if these ghost transactions appeared after a specific action, such as updating your accounts, syncing with the cloud, or running a One Step Update? Were these transactions tied to a specific account or financial institution, or have they appeared in multiple accounts? Also, do they have any patterns—such as specific dates, payees, or categories—that might provide a clue? Have you noticed any discrepancies between your online balance and the balance shown in Quicken before these transactions appear?
Let me know what you’ve observed, and we’ll work toward finding a resolution.

Please elaborate upon exactly what you mean by "ghost transactions". Are they duplicates of prior transactions? Or what?
And, what financial institution are these downloading from, and which download method? This info is at TOOLS, Account List.

I've never experienced "ghost transactions" from any financial institution. If these are credit cards, are you sure your identity hasn't been comprimised? I would log on to my financial institutions and investigate immediately.

I get ghost transactions in my invoice accounts. sometimes when I update a transaction a duplicate will appear at the end of the register. I usually run a validate and then delete the transaction and exit and reenter. This is very annoying and makes me doubt the integrity of the data
