Best format to export data to import into another financial management program

Hello,

I can't use Quicken. I tried to use it for 8 months but I'm throwing in the towel. The final straw was when Quicken randomly shut off automatic downloads from my bank, without telling me, and I had to delve into the deadly labyrinth known as the settings to find it. I would like to salvage some of the cost I paid into this program by exporting my data so I can import it into something that works. Anyone know of the best file format?

The only two options I see are QIF file and Quicken Transfer Format (.QXF) File.

Anyone know how to export to CSV or did I just throw money and 8 months down the drain?

.QXF format is only known to Quicken Inc, and as such can't be used.

QIF is probably your best bet, it has the most information in it and in a semi-standard format that other programs understand whereas CSV says nothing more than the columns will be separated by commas, not what those columns of data are. Exporting to Excel is basically the same.

But if you want to "export to CSV" you could pull up say a report for the transactions and export to Excel, which is going to basically get you the same formatted data, and you can use Excel or another program that understands Excel format and then export from there to CSV. They used to allow exporting directly to CSV, but I think they recently removed that.
