Quicken Classic Premier R61.17: Investment Performance Report Error

I updated to the latest build and the investment performance report shows NA in all the rows for the columns Avg Annual Return (and zeroes for the investments columns) when I choose the Date Range of "Earliest To Date" and Subtotal by "Investing Goal". I use this report extensively and was working fine before this update. All the other options of subtotal "Account" etc. work but not the "Investing Goal"
I see that the release notes for this latest build show a fix done to the Investment Performance Report for sub totaling by "Security Type". Could this have created an error on the above?

Those NA frequently mean that you've got a Placeholder for the security that's preventing the calculation.
The existence (or not) of placeholders in the account can be determined in newer Q versions via a message at the very bottom of the account screen:
IF there are placeholders in the account, which are customarily hidden, they can be viewed via EDIT, Preferences, Investments and then checking "Show Hidden transactions".
Placeholders are automatically created by Q when the downloaded security quantity doesn't match the quantity known to Q.
They need to be resolved for multiple Investment reports to work properly.

I see the same thing in both R60.20 and R61.17 when subtotaling by Investing Goal and I have no placeholders. Report sent.

So seeing Rocket's R60.20 reference, I checked my such report and see NA for some Investing goals, but not all. Further poking suggests to me that there is something really messed up with the Subtotal by Investing Goal selection.
One example: I got focused in on a two year time frame (1/1/2015 - 12/31/16) for which I was seeing the NA for several goals. (See footnote). I found for that time frame, my Consumer Durable 'goal' for all accounts all securities produced the NA. With detail shown, this was the presentation.
At that setting (all accounts, all securities), all the investing goal detail was two line - Beg. and End Mkt Values. If the End value was 0, AAR was NA.
I poked further and found the Beginning Market value was one security (Ford) and those shares were sold during the two year period. Focusing down closer to the one account and the one security yielded this version of the report which makes much more sense.
I can't begin to figure out why that level of detail is missing when a broader selection of securities is included in the report. As far as I have seen, this misbehavior is limited to the subtotal by Investing goal.
Good Luck to the programmers trying to correct find and correct this error.
On another note, when I tried the Earliest to date selection for a large group of accounts, Quicken regularly crashed on me. Thus I started poking at other time frames.
Footnote: Many years ago, I tried using Investing Goals as a substitute for Sectors so that I could compare better with some brokerage provided data. The effort proved too labor intensive and of no particular value so I dropped it. But that left me with a bunch of 'Goals' that are really sectors - Consumer-Durable, Consumer Non-Durable, Healthcare, Energy, etc. Thus in this discussion I comment about one particular 'Goal' that may cause a quizzical reaction. Shake it off. The issue here is not the specific name of the goal, it is how any goal is treated and managed.

Thanks Quicken Kristina. I have submitted the problem with the sanitized Qfile.
For user NotACPA, thanks for the note. There are no placeholder entries that would cause a problem. As I mention in my original post, the report works when choosing other subtotal options like "Account" "Security", Security Type" - just not when choosing "Investing Goal". I am attaching the two screen shots - that show it works when choosing subtotal by "Account" as an example and not when choosing subtotal by "Investing Goal".

I don't know if this information helps or makes the problem murkier but this points to the way cash is included in the results. In the above situations, has anyone tried unselecting "No Security (includes Cash)." (My favorite work around … except I never know if the reported returns are correct or not.)
I have an account opened on a given date: 12/11/24 with beginning balance of zero. On 12/11/24 there were a series of transactions involving cash transferred in and securities purchased. When I run Investment Performance report on the account with Account Open date of 12/11/24, there are no NAs for subtotal by security, or goal. If I select only one goal, I get a return for the goal and NA for (No Goal) on the report. If I then switch to subtotal by Account or Don't Subtotal, I get NA for the date range and zero Overall Total. If I then un-select "No Security (includes Cash)", I get the proper return for the Account or Don't Subtotal based on the one goal selected. If I change the range to the day after the beginning balance of zero, I get some screwy return for Account or Don't subtotal. There is something lurking in these Investment Performance reports.

FYI-I can change the behavior of accounts that @aks948a21 describes (Include all dates, subtotal by Goal, shows NA) by deselecting "No Goal" . Also, by selecting individual goals. Further, if I select all the goals but just don't select "Show (hidden securities), I don't get NA's.

Thanks @CaveCreek. I de-selected "No Goals" and I did not get "NAs" as well - as you mention above. But the subtotal is still missing.
