Odd issue with manual entry of transactions

Had this issue for years and finally thought to ask.
I manually enter transactions at times from scratch for my bank account. I have an issue that pops up at times during this when splitting a transactions' categories - and it typically seems to happen with splitting grocery purchases, that after one or two entries in that split of grocery items, Quicken defaults to the 'Personal Income' category as opposed to the 'Food' category I was in up to then, and I have to manually go in, select 'Food' again, and subcategory 'Groceries' and carry on where I was.
Absolutely no idea why it does this.
Please, if anyone even has a hint of what is going on.
Thanks

Exactly what happens when it "defaults"? WHERE does this default show? And what exactly are you doing when it happens?
Also, do you have a Memorized Payee for your grocery that uses this "Personal Income" category?

Well . . . . no . . . I don't have a memorized payee for grocery that uses a 'personal income' category. Wish I did earn revenue when I'm grocery shopping . . . . . . . . . .
I'm filling in a split on a total purchase at a grocer. First line of split I hit the drop down and it opens at "Personal Expenses' . . . . so I pick 'Groceries' . . . . 'Coffee & Tea' (for example)
Go to the next line and when I hit the drop down for category, it is at "Personal Expenses' . . . So I pick 'Groceries' . . . . 'Snacks' (another example)
Go to the next line of the split, and when I hit the drop down, it opens at "Personal Income". It makes no sense.

Did the first 2 lines add up to more than the total?

No. The first two lines were a portion of the total amount; as they should have been.
Everything was as it should be except for that odd opening up to "Personal Revenue" just out of the blue.
And again, this has been happening on and off for at least two years and I just curse and push ahead.
But thought finally to ask about it.

You may already know this, but you can start typing in the category or subcategory name and Quicken will filter the list of categories to only matches to what you typed. In the case of Groceries:Coffee & Tea, you could type coff and Groceries:Coffee & Tea should be listed.
