corrupt categories

I am preparing for taxes and did not see some of the transations which should be in my reports. After going back through 2024 transactions I see that several months of transactions have error in the categories. The transactions with the error categories do not show up in reports even after I correct the category. This is in a number of my accounts from March 13, 2024 to July of 2024.

Has anyone seen this before and do you have a solution? I called support and they said I have too much data but what I read from the community this is not the case with Quicken Classic Deluxe. I've had Quicken since the late 80s went from mac to windows and back to mac several years ago. I have many old accounts closed and do not keep tons of reports.

Thanks for the help

Meg

Can you explain more about what you mean with "error in the categories"? The actual word "error" appears in the category field? A screenshot would be helpful.

Wow, I've never seen that before. I note that "CORRUPT!" shows in the Transfer column, not the Categories column. Is it safe to assume these were not all Transfer transactions originally? It's not unusual if a Transfer field shows an error if Quicken can't properly link to the transfer account, but it doesn't display like this, and I've never heard of it appearing on transactions which weren't transfers originally.

    My initial thoughts…

    1) Do you know when this first happened? Because my first thought would to to try to find a backup data file from just before this situation occurred and revert to it, even if it means re-entereing some recent transactions. But if this occurred many months ago, that may not be viable.

    2) You could try calling Quicken Support to see if they have seen this before, and if they have any solution. My guess is that they don't have a fix, and may tell you your database is corrupted. The question is whether they would document this as a bug and send it to the developers; some Support agents seem uninterested in doing so.

    3) I wonder what happens if you select some of these transactions and Export them to a .csv file, and then open it in a spreadsheet. Is there anything in a Category or Transfer column?
