X Ray Stock Intersection not finding any mutual fund holdings.

X Ray Stock Intersection not finding any mutual fund holdings. Using Quicken Premier 2025 and windows 11. All programs up to date. This has not worked for months. No error messages. I have tried with all accounts and symbols checked, specific accounts and symbols checked. I know because I have both APPL and NVDA as a stock, and both are in several of the Funds I own. I have refreshed the X Ray Interpreter. This would be useful if it worked! Thx.

X-Ray Stock Intersection takes into account the allocations of the underlying securities inside the mutual fund. So, if you have 2 mutual funds and each of them has Apple stock in them, what will be reported in X-Ray is the weighted average of the Apple stock in both of the mutual funds. That is the Stock Intersection….the weighted average of that stock across all of your investments. It will not include any mutual funds holdings themselves because a mutual fund is not a stock but it will include the stock allocations inside the mutual funds in the Stock Intersection calculations.

The intent of this is to help understand what one's exposure to individual stocks across all all investments regardless of how those stocks are held. Under each stock listed it shows where that stock is held and that is where you should see your mutual funds listed. If you see too much allocation for an individual stock, then it can help you to decide which MF or ETF or other fund or other holding security you should maybe be considering reducing your holdings of. Or if the intersection is a very low percentage and you want to increase it you can then consider increasing your holding of one or more MFs or ETFs that include that security.

If you are not seeing your mutual funds listed under the stocks that are listed in the intersection then you should make sure that all of the appropriate investment accounts and that all securities are selected for inclusion in X-Ray. It has been my experience that the addition of new investment accounts and new securities are not always automatically included in X-Ray. X-Ray needs to be updated to include them. I refresh the accounts and securities every time I run X-Ray just to make sure everything is included.

    Does this answer your question?

Boatnmaniac I have done all your suggestions. Thx. The output you show above is the way it should work. My output shows the APPL or any other symbol TOTAL, but not the underlying %, nor the accounts where they are found. Thats the issue. I have checked all securities to make sure they are checked, all accounts as well.

Are the mutual funds you are not seeing publicly traded funds or are they included in a 401(k) account? 401(k)'s often have their own mutual funds that have the same names as publicly traded funds but they have different tickers, CUSIP IDs, different asset class information and perhaps other stock securities composition. These kind of 401(k) funds, being that they are not publicly traded, cannot be included in X-Ray because Morningstar has no information about them.

Boatnmaniac The mutual funds are all publicly traded on the major exchanges. They are not in a 401K. I have used Quicken since it came out on 5.25 Floppies. This used to work. Nothing has changed on my end. I have validated, super validated. I have started a new database and added other Mutual Funds just to try. I used an older database backup from a year ago. Same result. This is a program error somewhere. Thanks for your suggestions, they are great. Wish they worked for me!

@Rick8 - Which version of Quicken are you running? The current one is R61.21 and you are not running this you might want to update to is. (I prefer to manually download and install version updates with the Manual Patch Update file instead of letting Quicken do it. IMO it produces better update installation results.)

If you are running R61.21 already, you might want to consider downloading a fresh copy of the Manual Patch Update file (from https://www.quicken.com/support/update-and-patch-20182019-release-quicken-windows-subscription-product/ ) and then install that right over your current installation. Sometimes a version update installation hiccups and reinstalling it can fix that issue.

A couple of other ideas that might be a bit of a stretch but it would be worth checking out:

    • In the drop-down menu for Accounts > Custom > check the box for Show Separate Accounts > Select All > OK.
    • In the drop-down menu for Securities > Custom > check the box for Show (hidden securities) > Select All > OK.
    • Click on the Refresh X-Ray button.

Do the missing funds now show up in Stock Intersection?

@Boatnmaniac Thanks, I have already done all of that. No difference. I always run the latest version of all my software. Quicken, Windows 11, all current and patched. Keep thinking, it keeps you young! By the way, like your boat.😊
