Is there a way to automatically remove the account number from downloaded transactions?

Question

Lately (or maybe it's been a while), many of my downloaded transactions have the account number appended to the end of the Payee field or in the Memo field.  For example, I see Payee as

"QFC - 9129", "UBER - 9129", "BEST WESTERN - 9129", etc.

That "- 9129" is the last four digits of my credit card.

I would prefer not to have every payee contain those extra digits. It really looks ugly in the register, and its meaning is pointless and redundant. I have only one credit card in this account.

Also in another account (Amex), those account numbers appear in the MEMO field.  So every single MEMO field now has the digits "XXXX1003", which is also really useless.

Is there a macro or way to rename these downloaded transactions to avoid the extra account digits in the Payee and Memo fields?

I would rather not have to go through every Payee and Memo field and manually edit them. I've done this is the past, but it's time consuming.

@UKR Thank you for that tip. The only account that puts numbers in the Memo field on download in Amex, so this helpful hint works out perfectly!

If the Memo field contains the unwanted numbers (they are not appended to the Payee Name) then you can try setting this option:

Go into Edit Account Details, Online Services tab. At the bottom of the view put a checkmark in Don't update Memo when downloading

This option is account specific and needs to be set in each account with this problem.

Try using Edit / Find/Replace if you want to cleanup old register transactions

Hmmm. Ok, I guess I can create a rule for all my common payees, like QFC, UBER, etc, and just rename them to the right name.  I'm not too happy with Quicken's suggested names, since they often seem wrong.

I'm not sure how I can get the Memo field to be automatically cleared.  For now, I just go Edit Transactions, and Find all "XXXX1003" in the Memo field, and just replace it with blank.

Would be nice to have a global rule using a simple regular expression and substitution (like standard unix regex):  s/- 9129$// for payee, and s/XXXX1003$// for Memo.
