Vanguard Transactions Disappeared.

Member ✭✭✭

This morning I awoke to Quicken not connecting to my Vanguard Accounts. I first backed up my data. Then I chose one of my Vanguard accounts and right clicked, Account Settings, Downloads. I Change Connection and linked my accounts to the ones in Quicken. The options are Vanguard Investors and Vanguard Personal Investors. Once the update was complete, viola, all detailed transactions the past 30 years are gone. I restored my backup so I can retain my transactions. What has changed since last night? Thank you for any insight you can provide.

You didn't say which Vanguard option you selected, but you selected one which does not offer Direct Connect. As a result, that switched your tracking from detail to simple mode, which hides the Transactions tab. I suggest you click on the Vanguard account Settings > Downloads, and disconnect the account. Then in th eSettings screen, you can select Detailed tracking, and your transactions tab — which all your historical transactions — will be back.

Vanguard did something to disable access again this morning, so I would suggest watching this site for posts indicating the issue has been fixed and access has been restored. At that time, you can try re-connecting your account for downloads — using "Vanguard", not "Vanguard - Personal Investors". It's possible that if you haven't touched your other Vanguard accounts, you won't need to touch them; it's also possible you'll need to disconnect them all, and only once they're all disconnected go back to re-connect them. But there's no point trying to connect as long as everyone is reporting that Vanguard is not working.

Actually, I tried them both, each time with a backup/restore. Currently I'm downloading the transactions in qfx file format and importing the records. The Vanguard website actually has a Quicken HELP link. The problem is not how it switched from detail to simple, it was Vanguard would not connect with Quicken on Friday morning and that required me to reestablish a connection. Direct Connect was the only option on each Vanguard. Thank you for answering me.
