How to make Quicken use right alfabética order?

I have been using Quicken for Mac many years and last month I had to migrate to Quicken for Windows, but I have been some difficulties:

At reports, using alphabetic order is ignoring regional setting, example:

Right order:

  • Água
  • Energia
  • Telefone

But Quicken is ordering by:

  • Energia
  • Telefone
  • Água

Please elaborate upon where you're seeing this.

When ordering a column at report, it should be in alphabetical order considering regional setting.

    A (with variations)-B-C-… not A-B-C … Z … Á-À-…

Please be specific. WHAT report? Give an example even if All.

And, what Q product are you running and what BUILD of that product? This info is at HELP, About Quicken.

    Version R61.21

    Build 27.1.61.21

See a example … Itemized Categories report

First Item is "Aluguel" … last item is "Água" but first item should be "Água" and second item should be "Aluguel"

Quicken doesn't know about diacritical marks in languages. SO, it's the mark above the A in Agua that's causing it to sort last. That last entry doesn't start, in your computer, with the same character code as the first 2.

No recent version of Q understands any language other than English, your regional settings notwithstanding.

Interestingly, these regional settings issues are not issues on the Mac version.

QMac, like the Mac itself, was designed and built on a graphics base.

QWin, is still built upon DOS (even with Win running on top of it) and only knows the ASCII character codes.

QMac, like the Mac itself, was designed and built on a graphics base.

This isn't exactly correct (but close enough).

For a Windows/Mac program to understand about non-ASCII character sets it has to be built with that support, in particular support Unicode characters. Quicken Windows being so old it was/is built using ASCII character set.

It is non-trivial to change a program over from ASCII to Unicode especially since there is more to it than just the characters themselves in certain cases.

Quicken Mac benefits from the fact that it was totally rewritten starting in 2007, and as such started as a Unicode program.
