Transfers Deleted During Downloads (Q Mac)

Hi I'm on Quicken for Mac (8.1.1) on my Mac (15.3.2). A few months ago, I started having problems when downloading to two checking accounts from PNC Bank. After the download, I realized that the beginning balance was off. It turned out that Quicken had deleted a previous transfer (from days before the current download). It was either a transfer from one checking account to another or, more frequently, a transfer from checking to cash (ATM withdrawal). I would have to research and find the missing transfer and add it back into the register to make the balance correct. There were no error messages.
A couple weeks ago, I called Quicken and they walked me through exporting my file and opening a new file with all the data. I did that and the problem was solved for a bit. But now it's back. So this morning, I called Quicken again and had them walk me through the process again. I connected the two accounts and it downloaded yesterday's transactions. The same thing happened. I was missing a couple of transfers.
I am at a loss. I run Parallels on my Mac so I also have Quicken for Windows and I'm thinking of just transferring the data to a Windows file. Does anyone have any other fixes I can try?
Thank you!

Hello @JJJackson33,
Thank you for sharing such a detailed explanation of what you've been experiencing. That sounds frustrating, especially after going through the file export process more than once.
Just to better understand what might be at play here: are these deleted transfers always ones that originally matched up between two Quicken accounts, and are they still marked as transfers in both registers prior to the download? Also, when you re-enter the transfers manually, do they stay intact after subsequent updates, or are they getting deleted again? Lastly, when this happens, are the transactions still showing in the opposite account (e.g., the cash or other checking account), or are they missing from both sides of the transfer?
Let me know!

Hi Jasmine! Thanks so much. Before I download, everything is perfect and matches the bank (both accounts show the transfer and both accounts' balances match the bank). The deleted transfers are not the same each time. So I guess they do stay intact. Sometimes the cash transfers don't show up in the cash account when they are downloaded so I enter them manually. Today more happened with the download: there were duplicates downloaded. Can I get you any more information? Thanks again for your help!

For best results I always manually enter transfer transactions into my registers BEFORE I download transactions from the bank which contain the transfer confirmations.
When creating a transfer transaction, I make sure to properly select the Transfer From account (e.g., [ABC Bank Checking]) and categorize the Transfer To account as, e.g., [$-Cash] or [XYZ VISA]
For recurring transfers, I use scheduled reminders and record them a couple of days before the due date. And that's my recommendation for you, to avoid problems with incorrectly categorized transfer transactions.
Be sure to use distinct Payee Names for each transfer / credit card payment to avoid confusing Quicken - memorized payee entries.
That takes the guesswork out of the downloading process. Because a correctly recorded transfer transaction already exists in the account registers, the download process should just match the downloaded transfer transaction to the existing one.
If Q Mac doesn't match a downloaded transaction to an existing register transaction and appears to be creating a duplicate transaction, drag the downloaded transaction over the already correctly recorded transfer transaction.0 -
Thanks so much for your recommendation. I think it would be too labor intensive to post each transaction manually. I actually don't know the transactions before they download anyway! I'm just going to have to put up with fixing it every time I download for the time being. I don't know why it's happening. Thanks for your help though!
