In cash flow report, I want to see mortgage payments, but no other transfers (Q Mac)

The cash flow report has a Transfers filter under the Advanced tab with three radio buttons. One radio button is as follows:

(*) Include selected transfers with accounts outside of report

[ ] Transfer

[ ] Credit Card Payment

If a third checkbox is added for Mortgage Payment I would be happy!

(*) Include selected transfers with accounts outside of report

[ ] Transfer

[ ] Credit Card Payment

[x] Mortgage Payment

I think this is a small feature that should be easy to add.

In cash flow report, I want to see mortgage payments, but no other transfers

You should be able to do this currently… Under Advanced, click the "Include selected transfers with accounts outside of reports" button, and then under Accounts, select all accounts except the loan account. This will cause the report to include transfers to the loan account and only the loan account.

Of course, the transfer to the loan account t is just your principle payment; you may also want to include the category for interest if you want the cash flow report to include both parts of your mortgage payment.

Doesn't that get what you want?

No, that it not what I want. Your solution puts transactions from accounts into my report that I don't want. Quicken nicely lets me choose which accounts I want to include in my report, and I already do not include the mortgage account. And I already do include the mortgage interest category.

This is an income and expense report for my non-retirement accounts. So I exclude all my retirement accounts. And I see the mortgage principal payment as an outflow, which is good, but I also see a transfer (i.e., a distribution) from my IRA to my savings account as an inflow, when I don't want to see that at all. Unfortunately, this is the closest I can get to what I want.

With your solution, all the interest and dividends in my retirement accounts would be included in my report, and that's not what I want. I want simply transactions in the selected (non-retirement) accounts, and the only transfer to an unselected account that I want to see is the mortgage principal payment.

@oc_steven Got it. So what you really want is the ability to individually select which accounts transfers to/from are included, which sounds to me like what exists in Budgets.

I think the problem with your proposed solution — a checkbox to include transfers only with a mortgage account — is that it's too limited. What about a car loan or personal (lender) loan? If someone has an escrow account, should transfers to that be included or not? (The transfer to the escrow account is the cash outflow, but the escrow account's payment of insurance or taxes is actually the expense.) What about someone who transfers money between a personal and business account? Should a transfer to a savings account be included or not?

I think the solution which would enable any user to configure this the way they wish would be to have a setup like the Budget, where the Categories selection list allows you to choose Transfers To and Transfer From specific accounts on a case-by-case basis.

Regarding Budgets, I see where I can select as an expense category, "Loan Payment to <Specific Mortgage>". If this were available in reports, then that would be possibly a better solution, as it would make Reports more similar to Budgets.
