Merrill Edge Downloads Fail Error Code 2000

Starting last Thursday 04/10/2025 Merrill Edge downloads (brokerage and IRA accounts) have been failing with error 2000. I have been using Quicken on Mac for years successfully.

I have to go through the process of logging into Merrill and will immediately get the prompt to confirm and allow Quicken downloads. I have 10 minutes to initiate a download which I do and everything then works fine. On Friday I attempt to download Merrill Edge transactions and again experience the same problem. Repeat process above to correct and everything downloads fine. Same issue again over the weekend and again this morning. It should also be noted that after about 6 hours or so on the same day after correcting the problem the error occurs again when initiating a new download. I have reported the issue to Merrill.

Running Quicken Version 7.10.1 (Build 710.55389.100) on Big Sur Version 7.10.1. It should be noted I know I'm not running the latest version of Quicken for Mac or Mac OS but my 27" iMac running Big Sur runs as good as the day I bought it 10 years ago. Only change was to update the old platter based hard drive with a SSHD drive.

    Same error/problem on most recent Quicken for Windows.

    I get the error, validate at the ML.com site, and then the download proceeds successfully.

    Unfortunately, and specifically against the instructionat at Merrill, the same thing happens the next day. I assume it is supposed to be a one time validation and it is not.

    Apparently every time you try and connect to ML, you need to sign in separately and ok the connection to Quicken (Mac). Then you have 10 minutes to connect with Quicken. I've had to do this the last 3 times I tried to access ML using Quicken.

    Same issue. Accept the allow dialog on Merrill site and it will work, but the acceptance is not persisting, at least across day change.

    Same issue as well. I called Merrill Lynch this afternoon to inquire, and they ended up transferring me to Quicken support. The gentleman I spoke with stated it was a known issue with this particular financial institution and has been escalated internally. I was sent a link to be notified of any updates. I have included it below.

    Thanks for the update on Quicken acknowledging there is a problem.

    To add to my initial posting - two notes.

    1. After completing the initial verification/authentication between Quicken and Merrill this should persist. That is, you should only have to do this once. This is currently not the case.
    2. I cannot upgrade to the latest Quicken version due to running Mac OS version Big Sur 7.10.1. Currently, Quicken version 7.10.1 (Build 710.55389.100) is supported but I understand at some point down the road Quicken will sunset this version. In order to install the latest version and take advantage of new Quicken features, download functionality, etc… I will have to upgrade/update my hardware.

    Same issue for me - I am using Quicken Classic Premier Mac Version 8.1.2 (Build 801.56902.100). MacOS Sequoia v15.4.1.

    Same issue with First Interstate Bank WM downloads. It happened last month also when the bank changed something, and it took about 5-7 days for Quicken to resolve the issue. I wouldn't move my assets.

    Same issue for me starting 4/17 (and I download daily). I needed to log in to Merrill in Safari (macOS 15.4.1) so it will work. At first the weird thing was (after Quicken downloads kept failing) was that I could log in to Merrill on my phone with Face ID and 2 FA, but it would not accept my login using Safari on Mac. I eventually reset my login credentials for Safari to work, changed my password on all my devices, and I even disconnected my Quicken accounts and reset them.

    I looked for latest transactions in the browser (I have multiple accounts) and it looked like some were missing, but they could have been transactions that hadn't settled, or in some cases weird interest payments that had a corresponding subtractions - so I didn't have many good samples to test to see if it was working, or if it missed anything. I did try a second one step update and the orange dots came back (within 15 minutes of logging in on safari and getting the prompt to log in within 10 minutes, successfully doing that, and then failing 15 minutes later).

    But how does one go to Merrill Lynch and do the recommended suggestion of:

    "If you receives these errors, we advise that you please navigate to the Merrill Lynch Website to enable Direct Connect access."

    I think her suggestion is misguided. It sounds like she is saying click OK on the initial dialogue not recognizing that the issue is that we have to do this every day.

    Same issue, having to navigate and login to Merrill, then back to Quicken download, every single day. Something obviously changed around April 10, all was fine before that. I see no way to enable "direct connect" through either the Merrill or Bank of American web sites. This has been an unacceptable resolution to date.

    Same issue, having to login every day or every time I open Quicken and update accounts. I go through the process of logging in at merrilledge and it's only ok until the next time I open Quicken and update accounts.

    I've had the same issue (Quicken for Windaows.)

    I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I just ran a one step update (4/23 6:45am EST) and did not need to reauthorize my accounts. Perhaps fixed? Are others seeing the same?

    Yes, this morning downloads executed successfully for me (created original post). I have to assume either Quicken or Merrill addressed this. We'll have to wait for official notification on whether this has been truly addressed.
