Renaming rules not working

Member ✭✭✭

My renaming rules stopped working some time ago. Searching the community finds other threads which have this issue but are closed with no resolution. In the example below, "FRB DALLAS CAFE . . ." is downloaded. A remaining rule is supposed to rename "frb dallas cafe" to "FRB Cafe" and "Use my existing renaming rules" is checked. Any suggestions?

Try it after removing " dallas cafe" from the "if payee contains" part. I always search for the smallest piece of text that is unique. If you have nothing else that starts with "FRB", I would shorten it to just that since FRB doesn't show up consecutively in any words that I am familiar with.

I think I might have figured it out. If I create the rule and then do another update, the rule works. It just doesn't seem to apply the rule automatically after you create it, if that makes sense.

@Stuart Boyle I wonder if you shut down, and restart Quicken that also would make a difference. What you describe sounds like a "refresh" problem.

Renaming Rules only work going forward. They do not affect transactions that have already been downloaded, even if they have not been accepted yet.

But doing another update after the rename is added is a "hack" to ensure it actually works on a go forward basis.
