A Major Upgrade

I have been using Quicken 2007 for Mac all these years on an old Mac Mini and I'm about to upgrade to a new Mac Mini. Is it possible to migrate my old data to a currant version of Quicken? Will the old version run on a new mac?

Hello @BuckyB,
We appreciate you reaching out with your questions!
Yes, you can convert a Quicken 2007 for Mac file to the latest Quicken Classic for Mac version. Please refer to this support article for step-by-step instructions on how to complete the conversion.
Regarding your second question—Quicken 2007 is now considered an unsupported version, so we can’t guarantee that it will run properly on a new Mac operating system.
I hope this helps!

Will the old version run on a new mac?
Quicken 2007 simply will not run on any Mac operating system later than macOS 10.14 (Mojave) from 2018. Your new Mac Mini will have macOS Sequoia, which is six operating system versions newer than Mojave.

But I can migrate the files by installing on my new Mac? I don’t need to use the old version.
You can't use the old version of the application on the new Mac, at all.
Yes, copying the Quicken 2007 data file to the new Mac will allow you to tell Quicken Mac to create a new data file by selecting your old Quicken 2007 data file as the source of this new data file.
If you still have your old Mac, I suggest re-indexing the indexes (Command-Option-B) before moving the data file to the new Mac. Also, for safety, you should do a Finder File > Compress on your Quicken 2007 data file to create a .zip copy of it; move that .zip file to the new Mac, and uncompressed it.

I don’t need to run my old quicken just need to access the files to send them to the new version. I just need a very basic version of Quicken. I only do banking. What would you recommend?

@BuckyB Thanks for following up!
If you know which data file you’d like to convert, there’s no need to install Quicken 2007 on your new Mac. You can simply move the Quicken 2007 data file over using a USB drive, external hard drive, AirDrop, or a cloud storage service like iCloud Drive or DropBox. Once it’s on your new Mac, you’ll be able to convert it using the latest version of Quicken Classic for Mac.
Since you mentioned that you primarily use Quicken for basic banking, I’d recommend the Quicken Deluxe plan—it includes everything you need for managing transactions, setting budgets, and tracking spending. You can also compare all plans and features here.
Additionally, as a new user of our subscription-based product, you have the option to schedule a one-on-one tour with our Quicken 1-2-3 team. During the tour, a team member will call you at your scheduled appointment time to help you get familiar with the program, tailor its features to your needs, and answer any questions you might have.
If you’re interested in this opportunity, please click here to select a time slot and schedule your tour. Alternatively, you can call the number provided on the same page at your convenience.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
