Win 11 Classic R62.16 Add Accts to One Step Update

When adding accounts (that previously had worked in One Step) the accounts from the Credit Union to be added are listed but have no identifying info for each account. See attached picture.
Accounts are presented in no particular order so there is no way to link the accounts correctly. How can I get identifying info? Credit Union can provide no help. These acccounts include checking, saving, money market, cds and a loan.

Hello @Greenhorn,
Thanks for reaching out!
When account names or identifying details are missing during the setup process, it usually points to incomplete data being sent by the financial institution. Since you’ve already confirmed the Credit Union isn’t able to assist, let’s rule out whether this is a file-specific issue or something broader.
Please create a new test file in Quicken and try adding the Credit Union there. This will help determine whether the issue is tied to your main file or if the data is coming in without identifiers, regardless of the file.
To do this:
- Go to File > New Quicken File, and follow the prompts to set up a temporary file.
- Try adding the Credit Union in that test file and see if the accounts appear with any more identifying information.
Let me know how it goes!

First thought, can you take a backup of your current file … and then restore progressively older backup files until the connections are once again present. You'd need to re-input everything that happened since that backup was created … but that might not be so bad (but it could be if that backup is older).
Next thought is to create a new, otherwise empty, Q data file and download/connect each of those accounts to the new file. That might assist you in figuring out what's what.
OR, take a backup of your current file and then create an empty account in it and connect one of those displayed accounts to the new account in order to ID which existing account it should be. Then, delete this new account and connect that online account to the proper account in your file. Repeat as necessary.

Each time the list comes up it is in a different order. If I did you what you suggest (and I have tried) it still produced very messed up results.

Well, it got a little closer but still not good enough to use. Here is the picture of what is shown. To complicate matters there are 1 checking, 1 money market, 1 loan and the rest are CDs. So the CDs are marked as both checking and savings in the picture.

@Greenhorn depending on the outcome of what @Quicken Jasmine suggested. There might be an alternative way to connect your accounts that might circumvent your issues.
UFCU allows you to download transactions into Quicken using a QXF file (see link).
The first time you link and download from an account, you will get a dialog box that asks you which account this download is for. Be sure to link to the correct account in Quicken.
Before you start linking and downloading transactions form UFCU, go to Account Details for each of your UFCU accounts and blank out FI Name and Account Number from the General tab, and ensure that online services are deactivated on the Online Services tab.
Once you are able to link each of your accounts with UFCU, then you can upgrade your accounts from Web Connect (QFX files) to Express Web Connect (where you can update with OSU). You can do this by going into your Account List and change the transmission method (in the Transaction Download column).
It is very important that if you decide to try this, to make a backup of your data file before you start and then at intervals during the process, just in case you need to go back a step, or to your original file, if needed.

I tried this and the Credit Union displayed all accounts as Saving accounts, again. I guess I will have to stick with downloading the qfx accounts and manually update all of the CDs. Just makes me angry when it will work sometimes and then completely mess up the whole database.

Just to clarify, are you discussing attempting a test file?

I was trying to use CaliQkn's process of updating with qfx then changing from web connect to express web connect. I get the same prompt from Quicken listing all of the accounts but no identifying info to match the accounts.
I then created a test database and downloaded the data from the credit union but, again, I had to guess which account is which and I was not successful.
I have over 25 years worth of data so it is very important to keep it all in sync.

@Greenhorn there are other troubleshooting steps that we can take to help you match up your accounts. The screen shot you provided from the test file shows a good list of accounts. The issue is how UFCU is masking the account numbers which is making matching accounts difficult.
At this point I will defer to @Quicken Jasmine to proceed with next steps. The last thing I want to do is add confusion.
@Quicken Jasmine at any point you would like me to try to troubleshoot this issue, I will gladly jump back in.

Ok thanks @Quicken Jasmine we will "tag team" it. I will tag you back in if we cannot come up with a solution.

I understand the credit union is the source but they had some kind of attack a year or so ago that couased them to swithch to a different software. It has been hard to get used to it. Aboutevery 50 or so attempts I have some luck linking the account but it will soon default to no link and no identifying info.

@Greenhorn - thank you for that additional information. In looking at your second screen print, the way UFCU masked the account numbers makes it impossible to match up the accounts in Quicken.
When you look in Account Details for your UFCU accounts, what do you see for FI Name and account number on the General tab? Do they match what the account listing has?
I need some clarification on what you mean here -
Aboutevery 50 or so attempts I have some luck linking the account but it will soon default to no link and no identifying info.
Do the links somehow become "unlinked" over time?

I have been keeping an eye on this thread. Just tagging you in case you did not see @CaliQkn's response!
