Quicken 6.5 on Windows registration

I have been using Quicken 6.5 forever, and have never upgraded beyond there because (a) it did everything I wanted and needed, and (b) getting to 6.5 removed a function I used frequently, so didn't want to lose more.

Currently I am running 6.5 on a new Windows 11 desktop, and it all works fine, except for the annoying registration prompt (now down to 12 starts, I think).

I note mention of this: "Press and hold and keep holding both the left CTRL and Shift keys while you click Tools and then One Step Update. When the message “You will no longer be prompted for registration” appears, click OK." except I don't have any menu item labelled "Tools".

There are also posts which say simply click "Cancel" every time. Does that really work? It would be annoying, but that would be a small price to provide access to my quicken data file.

Help→About shows "Version 6.5 for Windows" and also "1998 Intuit Australia Pty Ltd".

I'm afraid you're out of luck because you're using the Australian version. It's no longer owned by Quicken Inc. (US).
Many years ago, the Australian version was spun off to a company called Reckon.
Any information you may find on this Quicken (US and Canada) Community about "bypassing registration" only applies to the US version and, IIRC, will not work with the Australian version.

See if Reckon has a community website and ask your registration question there.

Please confirm the version of Quicken Windows that you have by going to Help > About Quicken. I am not seeing a Quicken Windows version 6.5 in the list of prior versions of Quicken Windows in the Support Article per the following link: https://www.quicken.com/support/reinstalling-and-patching-your-quicken-subscription-version-after-your-membership-has/

Also, is this US or CDN? A screenshot of the information that Boatnmaniac is requesting would be great.

-splasher using Q continuously since 1996
    - Subscription Quicken - Win11 and QW2013 - Win11

Sorry, I found my notes and had missed a step in setting up Quicken on my new laptop. All sorted now. But for reference, Help→About shows "Version 6.5 for Windows" and also "1998 Intuit Australia Pty Ltd".

Edit: Problem not resolved - the next time I started Quicken I was again prompted to Register. Would love confirmation that when the number of starts permitted drops to zero that I will still be able to use the program.

You should note that the link I provided above applies to QWin US only. If you followed any of the steps listed in there regarding QWin 2004 or QWin 2013 then you need to uninstall them because they will not work with your Australian version.

Thanks for your advice. I will see whether there's a Reckon community.
