Quicken on Windows Soooo Slow

I have Quicken Classic Deluxe on Windows
As of the recent Release Version R62.16 Build 27.1.62.16, the app is extremely slow.
It takes few minutes to load at start-up.
I have validated the quicken file. It didn't make any difference.
Turning off the antimalware checking made no difference either
System has great resources. Only 3% CPU and 40% of the system is used by all apps, while Quicken is loading.
The Quicken app is extremely slow.
It seems the new release has an issue.
Does anyone know what else can be done to fix it?

    Hello @Quicking,

    Thanks for reaching out!

When you say Quicken is extremely slow after the recent update, is it only during startup or does the sluggishness continue during tasks like switching between accounts, running reports, or downloading transactions? Have you recently added any new financial institutions, accounts, or large attachments that might have increased the file size?

Also, are you running Quicken with admin rights, and are there any background sync processes (like Quicken Cloud Sync) active? Lastly, are you using any third-party plugins or screen capture tools that might interfere with UI rendering?

    Let me know!

    Hi Jasmine,

The sluggishness is mostly during the startup. It goes into blank screen for few minutes, then it loads the quicken window contents.

When I check the task manger while this happens, the quicken process goes into "Not Responding" status several times.

One change that I made recently was that, I got a new modem (same model as before), which changed my IP address. Then I had to "reset account" in all my accounts one-by-one to reauthorize bank downloads. But I didn't add any new accounts or anything.

My quicken file is about 200MB now.

The cloud sync is turned off. No 3rd party plugin. The PC I use for quicken is used only for quicken and hardly run anything else on it.

    Hello @Quicking,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details of your issue!

If you haven’t already, I recommend downloading and installing the Manual Patch using the steps in this support article. While it is the same version as what you currently have installed, manually installing the Manual Patch helps confirm whether everything was installed properly during the initial in-product update.

If installing the patch resolves the issue, it likely means something went wrong during the original install. If not, then we’ll know that further troubleshooting is necessary.

As a precaution, we recommend saving a backup of your data file before proceeding with the patch.

I hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

    Hi Anja,

I just ran the manual patch QW27.1.62.16MPatch . Still the same, very slow.

Also, I should mention that closing Quicken is very slow too. When I click on X in the window, for about 30 seconds nothing happens. Then it starts closing the app.

This recent patch looks like it made a lot of changes.

Is there a way I can go back to Quicken Classic Deluxe R61.21 ?

    Quicking

I was having the same problem this past January. And after trying many recommendations to fix my slowness issue, I got to thinking that maybe network drivers or other config files in Win 11 were possibly corrupted, so I did a….

Settings/advanced options/recovery/Fix problems using Windows Update

This reloaded win 11 without affecting data or apps.

Also, using "Driver Booster", i upgraded all out-of-date system / network drivers.

This resolved my issue and I haven't had an issue since.

    Thanks

Thanks Chuck56, I resolved the issue.

The problem was with Network drivers. It looks like when we start or close quicken, it tries to access the internet or quicken servers for some reason and loading those resources was hanging the process due to network driver issue.
