Where to record the Management Expense Ratio (MER)

Is there a field or custom field I can use to track the MER of the securities ? I am adding it to the name of the security, but since this is such data, I am wondering how to register it in Quicken Canada edition.

At this time, Quicken Canada doesn’t offer a dedicated field for recording the Management Expense Ratio (MER) within the security setup. That said, here are a few practical ways you can still track the MER in your data:

You're already doing one of the best methods—adding the MER directly to the security name. For example, renaming the fund to something like “TD Canadian Index Fund – e (MER 0.33%)” will keep that detail front and center anywhere the security is shown in your portfolio and reports.

Another option is to use the “Comments” box within the security’s detail screen. Here's how:

• Go to Tools > Security List
• Locate the security and click Edit
• In the Edit Security Details window, click the Other Info button
• In the Additional Security Information pop-up, type the MER into the Comments field (e.g., “MER as of Jan 2025: 0.33%”)
• Click OK and then OK again to save

While this won't show in reports, it gives you a convenient place to store the info for reference.

These options aren’t perfect, but they offer a solid workaround for now. You can also request this as a new feature to be added to the program in the future, then what you can do is create an idea post. This way, other users who have the same or a similar request can vote on your idea.
