How to apply a Category update through existing transactions

I receive credit card transactions for our local convenience store that come in with the category of "Restaurant." I only get gas from this vendor, so I change the category to "Gas & Fuel" for a transaction. Great.

How do I assign the updated category to this payee to all transactions in Quicken? I don't want to have to do this reassignment transaction by transaction.

Thanks.

This is what QuickFill rules are all about. You create a rule for Payee XYZ to use Category ABC, and it will apply that rule each time your transactions download. You can create a QuickFill rule by clicking on an existing transaction where you've already applied the correct category and selecting Transactions > Make QuickFill rule. Or you can go to Window > Payees & Rules, click the QuickFill Rules tab, click the + icon to create a new rule, enter the Payee name, and select the category to use.

(If you're instead trying to apply a category to a bunch of existing transactions, a QuickFill rule won't change them, but there is a way to mass edit the category in selected transactions. Do a search for the Payee in question, and select the transactions which have the wrong category currently. Then do Transactions > Edit Transactions, select the correct category, and it will be applied to all the transactions you selected at once. Note that this does not work for split transactions.)
