Deposit Option Removed From Quicken Investment Accounts

Hi,
The Deposit option has been removed from all my investment accounts. I think this is a bug. Now the opening cash balance can only be a deduction and not a credit. Is this caused by the latest update?

Please show us what you're talking about. Some image snapshots would be helpful.
What, exactly, are you trying to do?What version (R xx.xx) are you using?
What type of investment account (brokerage, retirement)?
Does the brokerage account have a linked cash/checking account for cash transactions?0 -
Please state what version number (Help > About Quicken) you're using. Quicken sometimes "trickles out" a new version to random users without announcement so it's possible that the "latest update" that you're using isn't really widely available.

Absolutely. It is R63.19. Build 27.1.63.19. Umm well initially I thought it was all of them. But turns out it is just IRAs and 401ks. Regular old brokerages, even ones marked tax-deferred (I do that for my HSAs, without converting them to Roth). So…that's weird…

After some more experimenting, I've determined that it becomes a withdrawal only when the cash balance is 0.

@recursor1 did the "Deposit" disappear or did it switch to "Withdrawal"?

It switches to withdrawal. When I opened up quicken this morning, opening balances on those accounts were withdrawals instead of deposits. And any deposit I make with a 0 balance switches to withdrawal.

So I guess…numbers wise it isn't a problem, but it is still incorrect and bizarre.

@recursor1 I am not sure why but I have heard of that happening. All you need to do is change the Withdrawal back to Deposit to fix the transactions. For a Zero transaction, Quicken defaults to a Withdrawal transaction, so that is not surprising that that happened.

Note that IRAs do not have Deposit available as an option when entering transactions directly in the Transaction List (Register) but you can make a Deposit by clicking on Enter Transactions.
In the Transaction List, there is a ContribX, which would be the same as a Deposit and is probably used because there is different tax processing for IRA contributions.

So @Jim_Harman and @CaliQkn , regarding Jim's comment, yes I know it isn't available directly in registry itself, but yes I used the Enter transactions window, and it still switched back to Withdrawal. Also, I've confirmed this appears to be a bug with the latest version of Quicken and not corruption of the data file itself. In addition to this bug, I now have an issue where after deleting a transaction buying shares in my Roth, the shares/lots remaining present in the holdings.
Regarding ContribX…yes, it is the tax processing that causes this. However, Deposit is useful in very specific situations. In my case, I have an old retirement account that existed before I started recording transactions in Quicken and funds from that got transferred in.

I will be reaching out to Quicken Support about this.

Another update: I have just confirmed through a reinstall and an upgrade from R63.16 to R63.20 that the cause of this problem is the upgrade. I will be reporting this to quicken support immediately.
