Incorrect Returns--Returns(%), Return(%) YTD

Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭✭✭

I track my portfolio as of November 23, 2024.

Many of my securities show the wrong returns for YTD% and Total Return %

The Dollar amounts are correct. However, the % numbers are wrong

Anyone else having this issue?

Oh MY——Just discovered why my numbers are off:

In March, I closed my Vanguard accounts and transferred to Fidelity.

Transactions were recorded as removals and adds for each security. All adds to fidelity increased the investment cost basis

Gary, we have discussed this at length already. What method did you end up using to move the securities from Vanguard to Fidelity? Did you just accept the downloaded transactions, did you use Shares Transferred Between Accounts to move the securities from Vanguard to Fidelity as I recommended at the time, or did you follow the recommendation from @Chris_QPW and move the transactions from the old accounts?

    Please review this earlier discussion.

Also, as we have discussed in the past, the "Return (%) YTD" data is provided and downloaded by Quicken's quote provider. It is often out of date. It does not depend on your trading history.

I accepted the downloaded transactions—— The Vanguard accounts all showed shares removed and Fidelity showed shares added. Everything looked good until today when I realized that the % returns were off.

I fixed the problem by simply removing the buy and remove shares just from Vanguard. This gave me the correct Investment Amount in the portfolio register and % returns were all correct.

So your problem is fixed now?

Yes——I went back to all transactions for just Vanguard and deleted the buy and removal entries. I left Fidelity alone. Numbers are all correct now
