META Ticker Issue: Incorrect Price or Mislabeling [Edited]

I've never had this happen before and it just started this morning. When I update my stocks, it's confusing META Class A with O'Reilly auto parts. Both securities have the correct symbol. My Quicken is running the current version. When I click on Meta from the update screen, it shows it as O'Reilly. When I go to the security screen both symbols are correct.

Is this just a "today" glitch with Quicken?

Today, Quicken Classic Premier decided to change my META stock valuation to $39.91 from the actual close of $726.09. I reran the update several times, and I am still getting the erroneous valuation. Has anyone experienced this? If so, can anyone please tell me how to fix it? I appreciate any help you can provide.

Nope, my Meta price is fine.

In the portfolio view you can just enter the correct price by typing over the incorrect price.

Yes, same problem. Quick Classic Premier. No idea how to fix. Definitely a quicken bug. Super irritating.

The problem is that you still have the meta stock symbol as fb

You need to edit the meta security and change the ticker to meta

PS You should also delete today's quote that came through wrong in price history.

I think you mean the symbol was "fb". F is and always has been Ford.

I had the same issue and had to replace FB with META

I am getting the same problem. The problem I see is that the META (Ticker FB) stock quote numbers are horribly wrong, and it's showing a huge loss in that, in that it looks like the share price dropped from 723$ a share to about $40 a share…. huge impact to net worth calculations

but then we have to keep doing it, as the next download of quotes overwrites what we put in, not a workable solution.

what ticker do you have? If FB, change it to META. META always gives the correct price for me.

I think I may know what is causing FB/Meta issue. Apparently my investing accounts still had Meta listed as FB in Quicken. But, looks like there is a new security trading on the CBOE over the past few days using the ticker FB. It's at a much lower price than Meta. I guess I had some FB in my accounts when they changed to Meta and Quicken never changed it. Maybe? I changed the name and symbol for FB to Meta in Quicken and it seems to have fixed it. The new FB was listed on the CBOE on 6/26.

So, it is a Quicken problem, but not that it is reporting the wrong price. It's quoting the price for FB, which is correct. The Quicken problem goes back to when FB became Meta and Quicken never changed it in security information, at least on my computer and apparently many others.

Exactly. FB is a new ETF that trades in the $40 range. Before that came about FB would still give you the price for Meta. Now that another security is using that ticker it won't work anymore. I had changed the ticker and name to Meta back when they officially changed and have never had an issue. Anyone who still has FB as the ticker must change it in Quicken now or they will get the wrong price.

Perhaps too soon to declare victory, but my quotes are now looking good, have for a day or more, and quote updates seem to be good.

That was the problem. Oddly enough, when I first looked at the situation on Friday, Meta was showing as the symbol. Today, however, it was showing as FB. I changed it and the Quicken world is back on its' axis. Thanks to all above for the help!!

We need instructions re: HOW to change the name and ticker in Quicken Mac Classic. I've tried but it gives the message "This security (META) is already in your security list" - even though all my Quicken holdings show as Facebook Inc and FB - can't find META anywhere in the investing detail. I can only edit the price and I have to do that every day because each new download brings in the wrong price again. I'm getting downloads using Direct Connect for Fidelity and Quicken Connect from Wells Fargo. The brokerage website platforms are correct - the pricing is wrong in Quicken. If I select Security Overview from the link for the security, it goes to https://investing.quicken.com/public/api/index.asp?symbol=FB&..wsodbackdoor..=off and this is the FB ETF with incorrect pricing.

@scshoes2 there was a similar discussion started in the Mac Investing category. There were no solutions given as yet, but perhaps if you pose your question there, one of the Mac super users can provide a Mac specific answer. Here is the discussion:

I'm having this problem too and can't change the name of FB to META on Mac version of quicken deluxe. I also get teh message "This security (META) is already in your security list" and can't do anything to correct that.
