QFX Transactions asking for Parallels Desktop to be installed

This just starting happening. I have one credit card company that I only can download transaction in QFX format. This has worked fine for over a year now. All of a sudden I'm being given a message when I try to execute the qfx file that Parallels Desktop needs to be installed.

Haven't used Parallels for over 6 years and not on this iMAC.

Anyone else having this issue?

Just tried another C/C company (AppleCard) that uploads transactions as qfx. Getting same message, so it is not C/C company but all qfx transactions.

I think the problem is that your macOS has associated QFX with Parallels or Quicken Windows.

First, you can try launching Quicken and going to File > Import > Bank or Brokerage File (OFX, QFX), then navigating to the downloaded QFX file, and it should import properly.

Next, if you prefer being able to double-click on the downloaded QFX files to import them, click on one of the QFX files and select File > Get Info (or Command-I). Look partway down the window for the Open With section. It is probably showing Parallels there. Pull down the drop-down menu to find and select Quicken.app. Now double-click the file and it should work as you expect.

Jacob, both of your suggestions worked. Thanks for your support. Any idea how this changed? It was working perfectly.

I don't know what causes macOS to lose association between files and applications; it doesn't happen often, but it does happen from time to time. Did you install a macOS update recently? In any case, usually once a file association is fixed, it stays fixed.
