I am having the identical problem as Doug June 27 posting
Every time I go through an update on my accounts, the update freezes part way through. However, if I X out of Quicken and restart my computer, and then restart Quicken, all of my accounts are updated. What gives?

What Q product are you running, and what's your "Subscription Valid Until" date? This info can be found at HELP, About Quicken.
If you update the accounts one-at-a-time (on a one-time, test basis) does any financial institution seem to take too long? Or, cause the freeze?
Also, don't make us go search, please provide a link to the thread you mentioned.
