Converting tracking method from simple to complete fails

I have multiple investing accounts, and all were originally setup "Tracking method>Complete Investing" with Wells Fargo Brokage and all currently show "Direct Connection". In 2/25+- I updated my login info on Wells Fargo which required changes to Quicken logins and connecting back to Wells Fargo. Now I have some brokage accounts as "Simple" and some "Complete." Tracking Method is grayed out. Removing "Online Services" allows selection of "Complete Investing." After reactivation Tracking Method is changed to "simple" and again grayed out. Creating a copy of compete file and setting up online services again results in same condition. "Default to simple investing for new accounts" checkbox is not checked in investment preferences. No error messages.
I have not tried to create a new account and transfer transactions if even possible.

@Angels250718 are all your accounts with Wells Fargo Advisors set up with DC?
Have you tried doing a data file validate or super validate?
File → Validate and Repair File, then select "Validate file". For super validate, hold Ctrl-Shift while clicking on "Validate and Repair File".
Otherwise, have you tried setting up a test data file and then your Wells Fargo brokerage accounts to see if it produces the same behavior?

Q - are all your accounts with Wells Fargo Advisors set up with DC?
A - Use to be but it was a very long time ago.
Q - Have you tried doing a data file validate
A - Yes, no change
Q - have you tried setting up a test data file
A - No, but I did make a copy and tried no change
Thoughts - your idea of setting up a test file gave me a thought. I am going to reach out to W.F. Quicken Support on the off chance that they store "simple or complete" somewhere when I had to reauthorize the accounts. Don't think so but you never know. Thanks

Please do reach out to Wells Fargo Quicken Support and see what they can do. If you still have any issues, or cannot get your situation resolved, please circle back. I might have some ideas that will help get your accounts working again.

Talked to W.F. level 2 and they do not believe there is any reason that their back end would change or require a change from Complete to Simple tracking and I would tend to agree. Since I am subscription, I guess I could contract support, but they have been useless in the past.

What is the connection type for the account? (Ctrl+A will let you see it)
If the connection type is Direct Connect then it is totally up to Quicken to switch between Complete and Simple investment modes.
But if the connection type is Express Web Connect + then it is dependent on the financial institution of what level they want to support. If they support Complete, then Quicken can switch between the two. But if they only support Simple then that is all you can get with this connection type.
Wells Fargo Advisors allows for either Direct Connect or Express Web Connect +, but the default is Express Web Connect + if you don't go into the Advanced Settings.

@Chris_QPW Wells Fargo Advisors does not allow complete tracking with EWC+ connections. So Direct Connect must be used for Complete tracking.

@Angels250718 - here are some steps that might get you back to being able to select Complete Tracking for your Wells Fargo investment accounts -
To connect Wells Fargo accounts with Direct Connect (DC) -
- In Account Details, deactivate all Wells Fargo Advisors accounts by clicking "Deactivate" in the Online Services tab.
- In Account Details for each account, blank out FI Name and Account Numbers in the General tab for all Wells Fargo Advisors accounts.
- Reactivate the account by using "Add Account". Type in "Wells Fargo Advisors".
- Click on "Advanced Options" on the righthand side of the screen.
- Click on "Continue" until you get to a screen that lists out the connection methods and select the option "Direct Connect".
- If you see a screen that asks what type of account, choose "Banking accounts".
- Keep clicking next to come to the screen where you need to put in your user name and password.
- After entering your user name and password successfully, you will then see a list of your accounts with Wells Fargo. Carefully link your accounts with WF to the accounts on Quicken.
You might get an error when you enter your username and password in step #7, but included in the error message are instructions to log on to a website to verify your identity. After you do that, you will have 10 minutes to return to Quicken and complete the activation process. You might get an error again, but if you do, just enter your username and password and try again.
After you reconnect all your investment accounts with Wells Fargo Advisors, you then should be able to select and use Complete Tracking.
If after these steps you are still unable to select Complete Tracking, then I would suggest contacting Quicken Support.

@Chris_QPW not sure what you are trying to show in your screen prints? Wells Fargo Advisors does not allow Complete Tracking when EWC+ is selected as the connection method. If you select EWC+, the Tracking Method selection in Account Details is grayed out and defaults to Simple Tracking.

I’m sorry I missed the fact that you said that direct Connect was needed for complete investing mode. I thought you were saying that EWC+ wasn’t possible.

I am having the same problem with my LPL accounts. I have done a validate and super validate with no improvement. Most recent attempt was for a single account which looked good after setting up online services. After displaying my porfolio and doing an update of quotes, the account had reverted to simple tracking.
