Quicken Classic creates duplicate register entries after editing transactions

The automatic download (for both Citibank and Chase) seems to work. But after I edit a transaction, most often because I am recategorizing or splitting the transaction, I hit the save button on the right side of the register and the transaction magically appears twice. The workaround that I have found is to delete the current transaction (which deletes both of the duplicates) and then immediately hit Undo Delete. The edited transaction reappears without the duplicate.

Before and after delete/undo delete

This has been an issue for me for many months. Since using the workaround, I haven't addressed it because I knew I was getting a new computer soon. Ok - I have a new computer with Windows 11 and I downloaded the program again thinking that this would "fix itself". It hasn't. This is a maddening problem that won't go away. Help please.

What version of Quicken you are running (Help > About Quicken)? And are you using dual monitors?

I encounter this sporadically as well, but I found an easier solution for me: Instead of deleting, just quit Quicken and re-launch it and the duplicate ones disappear every time. Sometimes going into another register and coming back resolves it too, but not always. Please try these and post back your findings.

In my case this suggests that Quicken's register is accurate but there is some issue with displaying the transactions properly. I think it might be some kind of graphics scaling issue that Quicken is not playing well - just a theory.

There was a discussion of what sounds like the same issue last year, here is that discussion:

I thought it was just me going senile. I've had it happen maybe 4-5 times. So far only in banking (checking/savings/credit cards), but mainly because my investment accounts I either "accept all", or I have to manually input them.

It is a quirky issue, definitely the type to make one question their sanity!

Over the course of several months, there were several posts about the issue, then the reports of the issue stopped. Apparently the issue may be starting up again.

Yeah I don't recall ever running into it in the 10+ years I've been using Quicken.

I want to say I noticed it within the last 3 months?

I really hosed me one day as I had edited a category, clicked "save" and it wiped out the payment (transfer from my checking account) so I had to go scrounge and re-create that manually.

After about the 3rd time it happened, I decided that I would just accept the item and change it after all the items were accepted into the register.

I am having the same problem. Have to close/start Quicken multiple times in edit.

    I am using Quicken Deluxe v R64.29 Build 27.1.64.29

Has anyone reported the problem to the Customer service?

For those who have this issue, please review the discussion that @mshiggins linked above.

I have found that after editing a transaction, you can avoid this issue by clicking on the green Save button to the right of the transaction rather than hitting Enter.

I've been having the same issue for months and it's driving me crazy. I've tried all the workarounds suggeted here and it keeps doing it. Clicking on the green save button sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. I can't seem to find a solution for it that works consistently.
