Why are Non-core Fidelity MMF investments no longer in some Fidelity accounts with 8.3 update

Updated Mac Classic Quicken to 8.3 in August. FMPXX & FZDXX, 2 Fidelity money market funds securities, no longer shows up as a security in 3 of the 4 Fidelity accounts. Prior to 8.3, they were treated as securities. They are not core cash positions in these accounts. They are also not being included as Cash. Along the lines, prior to 8.3, the dividends were correctly treated as "Reinvest Dividend". In 8.3, they appear as "Dividend Income". The dividends do not change investment balalnces.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! To better understand what’s happening, could you clarify:

If FMPXX & FZDXX are no longer being treated as securities, what are they showing as instead?
Can you provide a screenshot comparison — one of an account where they are displaying correctly, and another where they are not? Please include the Portfolio view in both cases so we can see how Quicken is recognizing them.

In 3 accounts, these securities in not showing at all in the balance. THey are also not being included in the Cash balance. Below is an IRA account that:

A Roth IRA account correctly shows (FMPXX is FIMM Money Market Portfolio):

One caveat, for this account, a dividend reinvested in FMPXX was classified in the download as a regular dividend after the 8.3 update and was included in cash. I manually reclassified classified it to Reinvest Dividend and it moved it. Dividends in the other accounts also downloaded as Dividend Income and were added to cash.

@Lane1983 Thank you for the detailed follow-up and screenshots—that helps a lot.

Since you mentioned that dividends are downloading as Dividend Income and not showing as reinvested, while at the same time the securities themselves aren’t appearing in certain accounts, we’ll need to take a closer look. At this stage, the best next steps would be:

Restore a Backup: Please restore a backup of your Quicken file from just before you updated to version 8.3, then refresh your Fidelity accounts to see if the securities appear correctly in that version. This will help us confirm if the issue began with the update.
Submit Your Logs: If the issue persists after restoring the backup, please send us your Quicken log files so we can investigate further. To do this, go to Help > Report a Problem in Quicken and include a brief description referencing this discussion.

This will allow us to review what’s happening in the background and help determine why the securities are disappearing or being misclassified.

Please let us know once you’ve tried restoring and/or submitted the logs so we can continue working with you on this.

My Quicken for Apple Mac has also stopped showing FMPXX - FIMM Money Market Portfolio. Quicken Version 8.3.1

If I enter FMPXX in the register as a security it will not appear.

When I update from the Fidelity site, Quicken will not display FMPXX.

I wondered if I had hidden FMPXX and have not found that is the case.

As to troubleshooting, I encourage the Quicken team to enter FMPXX in an IRA register and evaluate what happens.

I have the same problem. FZDXX held in my Fidelity IRA not showing in Quicken Fidelity portfolio. I does show in Quicken Fidelity transactions. (Mac Classic)

I have nor used "Report…" before. I see the dialog for that includes a check box for "sanitize". Is that what I do to remove personal info with the submission; check that box? (Mac Classic)

Yes, that’s correct—when you check the “Sanitize” box, Quicken will automatically create a sanitized copy of your file with all personal information removed. You don’t need to do anything else on your end beyond selecting that option.

This way, you can safely share the file with our teams to aid in the investigation without exposing any sensitive information.

After a month of getting incorrect information with Quicken -Fidelity, I find it much easier and less aggravating to plow around the stump and go directly to Fidelity where all my accounts are.

I noticed that the Quicken price downloads for Fidelity bonds and CDs have been corrected. Yay!

That leaves the mystery problem of Quicken not reporting securities held by Fidelity in particular, money markets FZDXX and others. Transactions for FZDXX are posted but the position is not shown in the portfolio. Also the transactions for SPAXX another money market, are shown in the Quicken Fidelity transaction register but the portfolio has errors in cost basis and shares held . So, Fidelity money markets are not being accurately posted in Quicken (Mac).

My cash amounts in my fidelity accounts are not showing in Quicken. Mutual funds are fine. It's the cash/core balance in the accounts that are not downloading into Quicken. Definitely an upgrade issue. It was working perfectly for years!

Called Fidelity on this today. They suggested as a test to create a new data file and adding the investment accounts from scratch. The two Money Market Fund Securities (FMPXX and FZDXX) do not show up as seperate holdings but the balance is being included in the "Cash" balance combined with SPAXX core position. FMPXX and FZDXX are gone. Dividends that were previously "Type" "Reinvest Dividend" are now "Dividend Income".

I updated connections to Fidelity today when prompted to do so from Quicken Classic Mac. The FZDZZ position in my main bill paying account disappeared.

I was able to disconnect the account, then make a new account in Quicken that showed the FZDXX as cash. This is a nice improvement overall, but a pain to have to create new accounts in Quicken to make it work. At least I did not have to start with a brand new file.

I put it back and hope there is a solution where I don't have to delete my fidelity accounts, start over, and redo all of my bills as everything gets paid from one of these Fidelity accounts.

I noticed a live adjustment made for FZDZZ at the bottom of my transactions that removed a bunch of shares. It was dated before any real transactions, down where the Live Opening Balance is located. I added a new adjustment to add in the cash value of all the shares I have today.

I don't know if I like this change at all now after I got used to having it as a holding before. It will make it harder to check for errors (which there have been a lot surrounding all of these).

Maybe I'll clean up all the transactions but it sure doesn't make sense to have Quicken show the details one way and Fidelity to chem then another way.

I think that I will try to keep my FZDZZ balance an even number and not reinvest and let my cash position float so that the numbers in Quicken and Fidelity somewhat match.

I really dislike a Live Opening Balance which makes it hard to find missing transactions.

My FZDXX position also disappeared from Quicken Classic Deluxe Mac 8.3.1. I noticed it after updating to the new Fidelity connection today but seeing the posts above, perhaps it was related to updating Quicken. Either way, this is very poor work on Quicken's part and should have been solved already.

I have this problem also. In each of my Fidelity Brokerage accounts, any money I had in FZDXX (a non-core premium money market fund treated as a Quicken Security) has vanished from my Quicken portfolios. After discovering the problem, I restored from a backup made before this latest Quicken update and when I update (which requires the new authorization from Fidelity), the FZDXX no longer shows in the Quicken portfolio for any of the Fidelity accounts where I hold it.

I also have a Fidelity Mutual Fund account that has never held anything other than FTCXX, which is a tax exempt money market fund. My Quicken transaction history shows a Reinvest Dividend each month for many years, but the Quicken Portfolio for this account shows nothing, and the value of this account in the Quicken sidebar shows $0.00 despite all the shares of FTCXX held.

I have another issue which also just surfaced in one of my Fidelity accounts since the latest update which may or may not be related. Specifically, the Quicken Portfolio shows certain Short Sale option positions which have been fully closed (Buy to Close). There is one from 2023 and two from 2025. In each of these cases I have reviewed the Quicken transactions and confirmed that the positions were fully closed out, yet they remain in Quicken—the full position in two of the cases and a portion of the position in the other. The transaction list for each of these includes a Placeholder transaction to Add or Remove shares in order to tie into the amount shown in the Portfolio. But the problem is that there should not be any of these positions in the portfolio, because they were closed (and they are, properly, not shown in the Portfolio on the Fidelity website because they are closed). This only happens in one of my Fidelity accounts and only with certain of the call options sold and then closed. So I don't know how to correct the Quicken portfolio other than to create a fictional transaction to reverse each of them as a temporary workaround.

In my case I was updating fine after the 8.3.1 update, but the problem started when I did the requested update to the new connector for Fidelity. In my case I lost my non-core MMF positions in FDRXX and FZCXX in the two accounts that held them. Based on other comments, I scanned down to the beginning of the transaction file and found two spurious "Remove shares" transactions had been added at the start date that removed all shares of the missing MMF. I deleted the spurious transaction in each account and at least for the moment I am back in sync. We will see what happens at the end of the month when dividends try to post to both of these positions.

I got both duplicate transaction downloads and all of my Fidelity accounts updated to incorrect cash balance amounts. Clearly a software update bug, well documented in this thread. My conversation with telephone support just now has nothing to offer but to delete duplicate transactions (easy enough, only affected a few weeks worth) and manually adjust the cash balance. In my case, I had already been tracking core cash as cash vs various money market equity positions so there should not have been any change to my cash balance and no MM funds to convert to cash for accounting. Still, cash balances for every account are off by thousands with no explanation why. Manually adjusting the cash balance is not an acceptable solution for me. To add insult to injury, the agent says this is not a known issue. I guess they don't read these posts.

Found the "Remove Shares" transactions dating to the account opening date. Removing that transaction brought back the balance to 8/31/25. Subsequent transfers in and out are not coming through to the Security, so it gets out of sync quickly. I can retag "Dividend Income" to "Reinvest Dividend" but transfers into and out of the security are not coming through.

I have the same issue - the mutual fund FMPXX is now showing as "cash" instead of the fund name. Did something change on quicken with the recent update or the new authorization process for fidelity? Before today this was showing as the fund name with its own entry for FMPXX.

Looks like the issue is fixed with non-core cash MMF's showing up again. I did have to change Dividend Income transaction Types to Reinvest Dividend for end of August when the issue first showed up. I also had to add transactions for any trades in and out of the non-core cash MMF's since the issue started, but yesterday's where there.
