Where can I find the Last Reconciliation Date? (Windows R64.25)

Hi Windows user, not an online issue;

New to quicken….I'm used to MsMoney, when one would start to reconcile an account,

MsMoney would always show the last reconciliation date, and, it would automatically increment the date to the next month.

I can't even find where is the Last Reconciliation Date in Quicken?

I've seen some comments state it's within Reconciliation History….Others state it's on the Reconcile window….I have found nothing?

Thanks in advance!

To see the last reconcile date for all of your accounts, go to Tools > Account list and look in the Last Reconcile column. If that column is not shown, click on Options t the bottom left of the Account List and select that column.

To see it for a single account, you can click on the gear at the top right of the register, select Account overview, and look in the Account status section.

    Thank you Jim!

Most appreciated! 👍️…..perhaps it is my wording.

These dates are the date reconciled…..Not what I was looking for…..but appreciate the input.

Googled and got this: The date your account was last reconciled to is typically called the statement ending date  or reconciliation date. This is the last day of the period covered by the bank statement you used for the reconciliation.

I had attempted under Account Status, BUT…..that date is the date reconciled, not the last Reconciliation Date.

    Thanks/11

Could you please explain what you see as the difference between the date Quicken shows and what you are looking for?

When you reconcile an account in Quicken to a statement you received, you specify the statement date. That is the date shown in the places I referenced above. Quicken does not know when the next statement ending date for your accounts will be. Due to weekends and holidays, it is not always one month after the last statement.

    Hey Jim, you stated:

When you reconcile an account in Quicken to a statement you received, you specify the statement date. That is the date shown in the places I referenced above.

    This is incorrect.

Good example is this. I just moved to Quicken, I'm behind on performing my reconciling, because I moved to Quicken this year, I want to balance and work from January 1st, 2025.

Quicken is showing if I balanced it today, it will show today's date.

Reconciliation Date should be as stated earlier, Statement Ending Date or Reconciliation Date (what date account is reconciled through).

What I balanced today; may have been my statement ending 2025-01-31, what I'm looking for is the statement ending date aka reconciliation date; NOT the day I balanced it.

My point being, I should be able to pull up ANY account, and see what month it is reconciled through.

The day I actually reconciled it has no bearing on anything.

    Thanks

    One aproach that might help:

If you click the Clr Status column in the register, it will sort the register as R, c, blank. The last 'R' transaction in the listing then shows (generally speaking, exceptions exist) you are reconciled through that date.

Now of course, that last 'R' transaction could be dated 1/25/25 even though your 'reconciliation date' was 1/31/25. Or you could some how have a May 30 dated transaction with the 'R' status (perhaps a voided transaction; perhaps incorrectly statused) even though you had only processed through 1/31/25.

@Jim_Harman I agree with @MurphsWorld that the dates shown are the date the reconciliation was performed, not the as-of date.

I just checked a card statement, with an as-of date of 8/14, but the locations you cited show 8/17 … the day that I did the reconciliation.

I just got off an online chat……and as I have typically experienced…..Quicken does NOT consider this a bug.

How this is NOT a bug….I have no clue.

Last Reconciliation Date…….is a misnomer….it should be labeled as Last Updated Date.

What I can say is at least Microsoft would admit when there was a bug in MsMoney….

And….I usually don't give Microsoft any credit.

What showing IS the last date that the account was reconciled … which to me is a legitimate definition of "Last Reconciliation Date".

Give up this battle. You'll never win it.

Since you need this date so badly, just add a recurring monthly transaction for $0.00 to Statement Date (new category) on your statement date. You'll always know the exact date of your statement for that account. I do wonder why, if you need to know this date of the month so badly, you haven't memorized it yet. I know all of my account monthly reconciliation dates without referring to Quicken or my statements.

Glad to see I am not the only one missing MsMoney. It was far superior to Quicken. Would love to know why M$ gave up on it.

As to the original question, I also find it a pain that I can't see the last Statement Date as opposed to the date I last reconciled.

I use a method similar to what q_lurker said. On the Filters menu, I'll change the "All Transactions" to Reconciled. The last transaction showing may not be the last statement date, as q_lurker also mentioned, but at least I know to look for the statement a month later from that one.

IMHO, Quicken is more interested in how "pretty" the app looks as opposed to how well it actually functions. Unfortunately, they've killed off all the desktop competition, so there are no other options for personal finance.
