Schwab security always updates with the wrong price

T. Rowe Price Balanced Fund, RPBALX, updates with the wrong price every time I update the account after signing in. I'll fix the price manually and the next update after signing in, screws it up again.

Today's price is $29.47 per share. Quicken is showing it at $20.05. I've reset, deleted and recreated the Schwab account and it makes no difference. How do I fix this?

It would appear that maybe you're receiving a price for a different T. Rowe Price fund. Check to see if you've got the correct Ticker symbol attached to that fund. It looks to me like the Ticker is RPBAX.

RPBAX (with no "L") is the correct ticker symbol for the T Rowe Price Balanced Fund.

What is the exact name of the fund that you hold? Does it perhaps have "Trust" or "Class" something like that as part of the fund name? That would mean you have a non publicly traded version of the fund, or a different share class of the publicly traded fund, which would often have a different share price. Here are some variations on that fund.

From a quick look at the prices of these funds, it appears you hold RBAIX.

It's T. Rowe Price Balanced Fund, ticker symbol RPBAX. You can see that in the attached screenshot in the left-hand column under security details. You can also see the price it should be, $29.47, under Quotes Open/Previous Close. So it's getting the right price and then altering it.

Today, after updating, the Open and Previous close have $29.42 - the correct price, while the price it's using is $19.90. It looks to me as if Quicken is getting the correct price from Schwab and then altering it.

OK thanks for clarifying. I was confused by the ticker symbol in the first sentence of your original post.

In the Security Detail view for this fund, please click on More then Edit price History and post a screen shot of the prices you see there for 10/1 through today. It should look like this

    image.png

Note that the data from Quicken's quote provider includes the High and Low and as of 4:20 PM Eastern time does not have a price yet for today, 10/8. That will not be updated until this evening. If you have prices that are missing the high and low and/or came in today from a quotes update or One Step Update before about 7:30 PM Eastern time, then they came from Schwab or some other source.

I ran the update today, Saturday 10/11, before looking at the price history, and, lo and behold, it gave me the correct price, $28.96. I don't know if it'll continue doing this. We'll see.

Here's the Edit Price screen. You'll see the prices are correct, but the High and Low columns often have zeros. This happens quite a bit going back in the history.

@Rick01 Thanks for the update. The zeros for High and Low and the fact that 10/11 is a Saturday indicate that the 28.96 price came from Schwab, not from Quicken's quote provider.

If you get incorrect prices in the future, please check the Price History again to see if it has zeros for the High and Low. That will indicate which source is to blame for the incorrect price.
