Allow the Category to be set for Pending Transactions

I like the way Quicken shows "Pending Transactions" when I do my daily update, as it gives me an idea of what to expect tomorrow or the next. But I feel like this makes me have to mentally process that transaction twice; once when I see it in Pending, and the next day when its actual imported.

What I would like to do is to be able to go ahead and specify the Category when I first see the transaction in Pending, so that I do not have to do that the next day when it actually arrives in the ledger.

Just record a manual transaction into your register, using a predefined entry from the Memorized Payee List which already contains the necessary category entry (or Split entries).

A day later, when the actual transaction finally downloads, just make the downloaded transaction match to this register transaction.

Not sure that aligns with the purposes of "Pending Transactions".

Because Quicken has no way to easily adjust a scheduled transaction amount each month, I use it to see that my scheduled transaction is about to arrive, and the actual amount. Then I can adjust the amount in my Register, and the next day, it will "Match".

From what I have seen this is either not possible or a bug. Note I haven’t used pending transactions for a long time because I didn’t think it was worth the trouble these cause so this might have changed but I doubt it.

If one is using the Downloaded Transactions tab this isn’t possible because the pending transactions are still in the Pending transactions tab and as such can’t be changed.

If one is the other hand if one is using the option to have downloaded transactions directly into the register the pending transactions are in the register and the category can be changed but the bug is that when the transaction clears and is matched to this existing transaction it throws away the category the user entered.
