Have you installed Quicken on your Mac and done a Sync to Mobile/Web?

And then logged in to Quicken on the iPad using the same Quicken Id?

Quicken Classic is a Desktop application with a companion Mobile/Web App.

To expand on what Chris wrote, "Quicken Classic" is an application which runs on a Mac or Windows computer; Quicken Classic is not application for iOS (iPad). What you can run on your iPad is an app downloaded from Apple's App Store which is now called the "Quicken Classic Companion App". As the name suggests, the Companion App can be used in conjunction with Quicken Classic on either a Mac or Windows — but it cannot be used by itself without a desktop Quicken Classic data file to sync with.

Do you have the Quicken Classic app on a Mac? And do you have an existing data file on the Mac? If so, you should be able to use it in conjunction with the Companion App on your iPad. Did you download the Companion App from the App Store?

If yes to all of that, then let's dig into what's going on with the app…When you say "it doesn't show anything except the icon" on the iPad, what exactly happens when you click on the icon to launch the app?
