Have 150mb file with multiple accounts and a lot of history. Manually enter sale of security (enter security symbol and the security populates), add price, shares etc. All appears correct. Press enter to record / save the transaction. The sale amount is recorded, but the security name and number of shares are "forgotten".

Thought it may be a file size issue. Went thru a process to create a new file with only this specific account (exported via QXF). New file is 110mb. Entered this same sale transaction in this 110mb file and it worked correctly. So maybe it is a file size issue.

However, not all the prices came across during the QXF export & import process.

So two issues:

is the transaction issue described above due to a file size issue?
How can I get all the security prices into the new file?

Thank you for reaching out! File size should not be the culprit. Our article on maximum limits does not list a file size restriction: https://www.quicken.com/support/size-or-capacity-limitations-quicken-data-file/

It is more likely that the issue was caused by a file specific problem.

You mentioned that the QXF file didn't bring all the security prices into the new file. Is there any pattern to the prices that didn't import properly?

It's almost certainly not a file size issue. It is likely due to a Placeholder transaction which Quicken keeps adjusting to maintain the original number of shares. Perhaps your transaction has not yet settled and the brokerage company is still reporting to Quicken the old number of shares.
