Elaborate. QXF import doesn't touch your categories, since your FI, that originated the file, doesn't know what your categories are.

Also, what Q product are you running and what BUILD of that product?

What do you mean "Fl"? I created the category list for farming in a Quicken File and then exported using a QXF format so I can share with clientele that want the farming categories.

Quicken Classic Deluxe, up-to-date subscription. What do you mean by BUILD?

I'm not familiar with the record layout of a QXF file, but …

Can you open the QXF file with Notepad or another ASCII text editor and then show us a couple of record examples, specifically ones that you know have the tax-related attribute showing in the Category List?

Using that example may someone can figure out where the problem lies.

Folks the statement was for a QXF file not a QFX file. (QFX transactions from FI/financial institution, QXF data file to data file)

And just so you know QFX files can be edited with notepad but QXF files can't.

And to answer that question I have never tested what happens to the tax lines on categories that are imported into another data file. If they are getting lost it sounds like a bug. With maybe the exception if the new data file already has the same category it might not override it. The categories in the new data file might have to be deleted first.

If all you want to do is share the categories and tax lines I believe that a QIF export/import might do that.
