Quicken Classic on Windows should not freeze during Internet outage

Being able to access our most important information during an Internet outage is a main reason that we use Quicken Classic.

During my recent Internet outage, Quicken Classic freezed/hanged until Internet service was restored. Please make Quicken avoid unnecessary attempt to go online. When it needs to go online, please use a separate thread so that we can still access our most important information during an Internet outage.

I have been a paid subscriber for years and was running Quicken Classic for Windows R64.35.

I have found that disabling both the wifi and ethernet network adapters in the computer will allow Quicken to work when your network service is out.

If you are using ethernet (wired), just unplugging the cable is not enough, the adapters need to be disabled. This needs to be done in Windows settings, it is not a Quicken setting.

Yep, we're increasingly dependent on "being connected."

Welcome the the Brave New World. You get benefits, but you pay a price. But you can use Quicken if you disconnect, enough.

Do I need to disable the network adapters BEFORE starting Quicken? I ask because when Quicken hanged during Internet outage, disabling the network adapters didn't free up Quicken.

Being able to work offline is important.

To Quicken developers, please put a timeout on all Internet connections so that we can still access our data freely in the event of Internet outage.

Yes, both WiFi and Network must be turned OFF in Control Panel, Network settings before you start Quicken.

    Concur.
