One Step Update skips transactions
My brokarage has removed the QFX file download option, which I have been using for years. So I tried One Step Update. It only downloaded the most recent month of transactions. I had not downloaded a QFX file since December 2024, so there were a lot of transactions missing. I was able to download a CSV and convert the format to Quicken, but importing a CSV of brokerage transactions also skipped many transactions and did not work properly if it couldn't find the symbol. I am not pleased with the shift away from QFX files. They worked well. Why change something that isn't broken?!?😣

You would need to direct that question to the financial institution. It is the FI that decides which download methods are supported for Quicken, not Quicken Inc.

Hello @hklehman,
I understand how frustrating this is—especially when something you’ve relied on for years suddenly stops being available.
That said, this change isn’t something Quicken controls. The financial institution determines which download methods they offer (QFX, CSV, Express Web Connect, Direct Connect, etc.) and how much transaction history is made available through each method. Quicken can only work with the access and data the brokerage chooses to provide.
A few important points for clarity:
- QFX availability: Whether QFX downloads are supported or discontinued is entirely up to the brokerage. Quicken cannot force an institution to continue offering QFX files.
- One Step Update history limits: Many financial institutions limit how far back transactions are available via online downloads (often 30–90 days). This is a decision made by the institution, not Quicken.
- CSV imports: CSV files are not standardized like QFX/OFX. Missing symbols or formatting differences can cause transactions to be skipped or imported incorrectly.
I know that’s not the answer you were hoping for, but I hope it provides an explanation for you.
Thank you!
-Quicken Anja
