Portfolio Value Report show incorrect cash balance. How to fix
The portfolio Value report and Investment Activity Report for Jan 1 2026 show a incorrect positive cash balance. The added cash balance inflates the investment values. I was able to find several entries I made in the IRA account to correct IRA withdrawal amounts and deleted them. I expected that deleting the erroneous entries would also correct the reports but it did not. I ran the validate and repair process and this did not correct the issue.

Are you downloading transactions from the investment company and who is the investment company?
Or are you manually entering them?

the entries that I deleted were manually entered.

I understood that from your original post. But that does not answer the questions I asked.

I download transactions from Vanguard.

Is the cash balance in the reports equal to each other but different from the amount reported elsewhere in Quicken? If so, where is it different?

yes, the cash balance in every report is the same. I narrowed the cash balance to an IRA that I took distributions from in 2025. Those distributions included ones with withholding and those which I did not withhold. The cash balance in the IRA account is correct and has remained that way the entire year… cash deposits/withdrawals sweep in/out of a vanguard money market account so never linger.

Do you mean "The cash balance in the IRA is incorrect…?" Otherwise please explain.
Usually Vanguard downloads withholdings as separate transactions, along with a withdraw transaction for the net amount. In order for Quicken to record the withholding, you must delete the downloaded transactions and enter a split Deposit transaction in the taxable receiving account with a transfer for the gross amount and the withholdings as negative values and the correct tax categories. Is that what you have been doing?

The cash balance in the IRA is correct. It has never been incorrect. It is the Portfolio Value Report that has a cash balance throwing off the portfolio value.
I think I havent been accounting the IRA withdrawals properly between the Vanguard IRA and the taxable deposited account. I will reconcile the IRA using your instructions and see if that corrects the Portfolio Value Report.
I appreciate your help and will let you know if the problem remains.

I corrected the distributions and withholdings to the taxable account and that fixed the issue. Thank you so much for your help and time. Regards
