Quicken Classic on MacOS - multiple local user accounts

Please implement multiple MacOS user accounts on the same computer.

It is standard MacOS behavior for applications to be fully accessible by multiple users of the same computer if their data is stored in the Users/Shared folder. For example, if a husband and wife have different accounts on the same computer, the data file should be accessible by either account. This is very important for usability, as different users may have different requirements due to vision or other physical issues.

From what I can see, the limiting issue appears to be assignment of correct permissions within the Quicken data file package. Whenever Quicken saves the data file, it appears to reset parts of the permission structure. This requires any other user to reset permissions to the Quicken data before Quicken can open the file.

Please allow multiple users of the same computer to access the same Quicken data. Any other local solution (i.e. manually transferring files between users) risks data loss.

You could create a third macOS account and just use it for Quicken. That way either you or your wife could switch to that account to use Quicken without interrupting work in your regular account. Not optimal, but it’s a viable workaround.

I don’t know if Quicken can fully solve the issue with file permissions in the Shared folder, since the file permissions are controlled by macOS.
