Quicken Reporting OL-294-A On A Direct Connect OSU Session
Quicken has been reporting OL-294-A "Temporarily Overloaded" since about 1/14/26 15:35 Pacific time until now. Below is an excerpt from the CONNLOG.txt file:

First, could you please let us know the name of the financial institution(s) where you are seeing the OL-294-A "Temporarily Overloaded" error?

It was Vanguard Investments. A screenshot of what and how would that help? Is the information in the Connlog.txt file not sufficient? Notice the 2 minute span before the error message.
I also used the "Report Problem" feature in Quicken to upload the Connlog.txt file when reporting this problem.

The reason I ask for a screenshot is not that the Connlog isn’t useful (it absolutely is), but because the “Temporarily Overloaded” message is not typically displayed with this error code, so seeing exactly what you're seeing in Quicken can help provide more context.
However, OL-294 errors generally indicate that Quicken did not receive the expected response from the financial institution’s server. This is most often caused by:
- Temporary server issues on the financial institution’s side
- Online services being activated incorrectly
- Outdated or mismatched credentials stored in Quicken
Even if login works on Vanguard’s website, Quicken may still receive an invalid response from the OFX server used for Direct Connect.
You can try the following steps:
- Verify account services in Quicken:
- Go to Tools > Account List
- click Edit for your Vanguard account, and in Account Details make sure the services match what Vanguard currently provides.
- Verify your password: Go to Tools > One Step Update, uncheck other accounts, click the key icon next to Vanguard, and enter your current password.
- Refresh your online account info: In your register, click the Actions gear icon (or press Ctrl + Shift + N) and follow the prompts to update.
If the error continues after that, the issue will need to be addressed by Vanguard’s Direct Connect/OFX support team, as Quicken cannot correct a financial institution's server-side error.
