In the check # column, in the check register, it would be very helpful to remember what is entered there…such as Debt, Cash, Refund, Interest, Transfer…etc. The way it is setup now, I have to enter it manually every time I make an entry. I have found that I very seldom use checks anymore…just once in awhile…most of my entry's are via debt or transfers…Thanks for your consideration

If you use the Action column instead of the check number column, you can select the various transaction types from a dropdown list of Actions you create.

Unfortunately, Actions cannot be saved in a QuickFill rule. So you have to select the appropriate Action each time you enter a transaction. Nonetheless, it can still be useful if you want to record these sorts of things.

For myself, I have found I don't need the Action column or the Check Number column in my transactions (other than for actual check numbers for the very few checks I write). Everything else is apparent based on the account, transaction, inflow/outflow, and a Memo entry. I'm not sure I understand why one would want to record the items mentioned in the original post in the check number (or Action) column: Transfers are apparent from the Transfer/Category field; Interest is apparent from the transaction type; Refunds I denote in the Memo field; Cash is tracked in its own account, etc.
