Will I be able to update the same files that were shared with me?

Back in October, a business associate asked me to help maintain the Quciken account for our business. We have several accounts and he shared two of them with me. I did not download Quicken Classic on my laptop, but I used the web version to update transactions. This worked without any issue through December.

When I tried to enter a transaction in January, I could not access those shared accounts. Instead I got a screen that says "It looks like you have not synced your accounts yet", telling me to update settings on the laptop version. I don't have Quicken Classic on my laptop, so I can not do the sync on my computer.

Can my business associate fix this on his computer?

Do I have to buy a version for my computer?

If I do have to buy Quicken classic for my laptop, will I be able to access the shared accounts I used to work on?

If your associate is syncing to a Quicken file on their computer then you don’t want to try to sync that same data to a file on your computer; Quicken isn’t set up for use on multiple computers that way. Only one of you should be using desktop Quicken & the other should only use the web. So you need to talk to them & figure out which one of you will be maintaining the desktop data file.

I am new to the forum and accidently hit answered when I should have hit helpful.

The associate will maintain the desktop.

I have used the web to access those files in the past.

    I have lost web access.

How do I get that back?

I would talk to your associate & see if they are having any issues on their side. Some folks who have updated to the latest Quicken Mac have reported issues related to syncing & it's possible that your problem accessing the web data is related to that if they are using a Mac. I don't keep up with what's going on with Quicken Windows so I don't know if there are any ongoing issues on the Windows side.

    My associate has no problems.

He did all of his syncing on his side.

Now when I sign in, I don't get the sync screen.

I get a paywall for Quicken on the web.

Do all users have to pay?

You will have to have the QuickenID (username and password) of the person who subscribes to Quicken. You don't have to pay separately, because you are both using the same account.
